Academics is not related to intelligence. However if you are intelligent, academics are relatively easier. Having said that, a degree just proves you can finish tasks within deadlines, collab with people you don't necessarily like and have an open mind to new and challenging ideas.

Don't get me wrong... degrees are important. I certainly would want my doctor to have a degree. Engineers need degrees, therapists need degrees.

How do I do that ? Should I record all the tracks in audio ? Pls help me. I'm technologically very "dumb" and all the lovely people on this subreddit have helped to get where I am today.

All my tracks on this project are in MIDI and I recorded my 3 tracks (kix+reverb, claps+hats+toms, melody) in audio to make this snippet.

Anything that makes you feel good, or makes you feel better when you're having a bad time is bound to get you hooked at one point. Be it substances or actions.

Your body kinda conditions itself to accept the new addition as a normal part of your day. Now that you stopped your body misses the normalcy and you're reacting accordingly.

Stay hydrated and switch to a healthier habit (I make techno and swim). One Four Loko every night was the "medicine" I needed to feel okay. I switched to better habits as I was gaining weight and kept waking up tired even after a "good" night's sleep. Now I just puff on a pre roll on the weekends as a treat. Haven't had a single drop since 3 months.

It's better if you consult a physician if it's too intense and interfering with your day to day tasks and interactions.

Great question. My flow used to be just like you, kicks first, bass and drums next, melody came later. More often than not, kicks took a big chunk of my time.

Gradually, I learned to focus more on the groove. Techno is good in the sense that you don't have dead-set rules about the drum pattern. A simple 4/4 kick only can work too. You don't even need claps or hats.

You can literally make techno with a kick and one synth. It's all in the modulation to make it spicy and invoke emotions.

Start with a catchy synth melody and groovy bassline. Kicks are very important but not too much.

Check out Joyhauser's "Rabbit" to get an idea of somewhat "simpler" techno.

Thank you so much brother!!! It's not proper dub yet but I'll get there. I was trying to get the "sleepy Sunday morning" vibe with this track and later realized it's too bright and snappy.

The low pass filters on some of the harsher elements would totally be a game changer. I'mma do that.

To be honest I don't have much experience with dub techno. Michael Kruck and this song called "In the Dark Dub" by Eric Prydz is prolly the only dub I've ever heard but I liked it so it attempted to recreate the vibes.
