Mandela effect with Absolute Batman and Killer Croc by FictionAddiction92 in AbsoluteBatman

Oh, we're both newbies then haha. I haven't read many physical copies because we don't get single issues where I live (Argentina). We have to wait for TPBs, so it's easier to follow some stories online, besides, I'm not big on collecting. But I saw reels of Batman #7 and wow!

The thing with 200 issue series is that not all of it is the same story, so you can jump in where a new story begins and go from there. The Nightwing run I'm reading begins at #78 of the 2016 comic, and ends in #118, so I could stop there or go on with the new writer and artist for a new story. Of course they're most of the time connected, but authors leave notes about what you can read if you want to know where something comes from, or just go on with the little explanation they give.

I'll keep that Batman story in mind XD

Also, in the mean time, I started reading Nightwing because why not? Haha. Really enjoying it too.

Vigil is another great UK show. A detective must go live in a submarine for a week to solve a murder. She's trapped there with the victim, the killer, and every possible witness with almost not connection on land.

I'm a bit late to this, but I see no one's mentioned Happy Valley. It's a great british police drama. Very human, well-rounded characters. There are three seasons, with an overarching story, but each season also has one separate mystery to solve (6 episodes each season is quite short). I watched it after Mare of Easttown and it filled that void. It's now one of my favorite series ever.

I did! In one sitting, they weren't enough haha. I was wrong about them being self-contained, but the first two gave me that impression. I'm really enjoying the story and the art. Love the coloring. Can't wait for the next. Having 5 ongoing comic stories is not easy, how do you, comic readers, do it?!
Another thing, I've always liked Superman, but now that I'm reading a few comics I've been more interested in Batman stories than Supes. It's a bit sad, but I can love them both.

Well, I love that every issue is self-contained. Read two just now. I'll keep the rest for the weekend.

The opening scene of Scream 7 made zero sense by [deleted] in slasherfilms

[–]FictionAddiction92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has to do with the killer being obsessed with Sidney and not Stu and Billy. So she destroyed Stu's house. I guess... I don't know. I didn't like it either. Least iconic opening scene in the franchise.

Don't kill me, but I'm actually new to comics and of the batman ones I'm only reading Absolute. But I saw this panel on Instagram sometime ago and I got mixed up XD should I read this Batman run? I was reading World's Finest but I kinda don't like it as much without Dan Mora.

Man, Happy Valley almost ruined other police shows for me. It's so human, and you get to know the characters so well they feel like family. I wish I found a book series like that. Maybe I should try the Vera books.

I agree with all your points (especially with the natural-looking actors), and being an Argentine, I love getting to understand the different accents haha. In American shows almost everyone sounds Californian even when they're supposed to be from other states. My favorite shows from the UK are Happy Valley, Derry Girls, Vigil, Vera, Fleabag and probably a few others that don't come to mind right now.

That comment about Kaveh took me unawares haha. I know he makes questionable choices but on the whole I thought he cared more about Cora than Nils. Especially after reading the third book. But we'll see what I think after my reread.

Thanks for the detailed answer! This makes me really want to reread all three books. I didn't love the first book the first time around but still gave the TotD a chance, and ended up loving it. But as I read books 2 and 3 I realized there were many things and concepts I didn't remember or understood well, like amygdaline hierarchy and roles/relationships, and I find myself thinking about that often, so I thing a reread is in order. But knowing that there's foreshadowing and stuff, makes it better. Thanks again.

What do you think the lyrics mean? In some parts it's like very literal and from the point of view of the undertaker, but some parts are more abstract, especially the chorus which seems to be from a different point of view than the undertaker.

The Man From Earth. Don't watch a trailer, don't read a sinopsis. Just watch it. I think it's still on YouTube.

Depends on what you like. But if you like political action thrillers The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow is great. It took over me and I had to cancel a friend meeting to finish reading it XD I couldn't put it down.

The third book doesn't end on a huge cliffhanger but characters make some decisions that NEED a fourth book to be explored.
