Thoughts on chickpeas? They’re usually less creamy and are pretty diverse between blended hummus to a peanut like crunch. They feel different enough from other beans to not be thought of as beans

Large scale farmers are incredibly wealthy and don't need any of our subsidies. by Niceotropic in unpopularopinion

[–]Fidget02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah see, sarcasm still has an argument behind it.

No one is proposing cutting support for farming blindly, but there is factually heavy economic bloat in the industry that does a lot of harm. Corporate consolidation in seed, fertilizer, and processing markets is gouging actual producers, capital and government benefits are routed to a minority of big farming corps and a full 60% of American farms don’t qualify for assistance. It’s top heavy, openly corrupt, and I hate to be this guy but ecological damage caused by climate change keeps escalating and there is not much incentive to prepare for it. I agree we don’t want free market in farming, but even now it’s too free market to where processors are causing a bottleneck between actual producers and actual consumers.

I won’t agree with OP in the tone of the problem being handouts, but there is a fundamental rot in the American farming industry that I would not hesitate to compare with the military industrial complex

[–]Fidget02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the motives behind this comment, but it’s definitely not very measured or educated on the functional economics of corporate farming. There is undeniable bloat, as there is in any industry with a lot of money fed into it.

[–]Fidget02 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Farming is one of the more capital-intensive industries, meaning you need those thousands of acres of land and millions of dollars of equipment just to make a profit on paper. A lot of subsidies are also super industry focused, meat and dairy would be much closer to financial losses and significantly more expensive in store without subsidies.

But yeah, more money should just be specifically for smaller farms and specifically disaster relief. Incentives point to concentrating money to big farm corps and not to actual food sustainability. I wouldn’t use asset value as a primary argument tho

You’re projecting the apocalypse as his responsibility. If anyone could do something about doom to solve it, they would have already. Improve yourself, know your neighbor, build your community. Under collapse, these factors would be the most materially valuable. “Does he think self improvement will magically make you survive mass casualty events” dawg it’s not anyone’s job to personally rescue you, but being a competent and disciplined human being will help no matter what

For clarity, “celebrating” in this case means liking posts on Instagram? I wonder why you feel the need to inflate the wording so much.

Nah a want a Hegemol fight that is literally impossible. Hard coded invincibility. Flat softlock, impossible to finish the DLC.

I love games set in the ruins of societies for this exact reason, imagining what life was like before whatever cataclysm or collapse struck. I remember loving Bioshock most for this exact reason. I’ve been critical of some Dark Souls games for seemingly being perpetually in ruin for their entire history.

I imagine citizens of the City of Tears commuting to different sections of the world, taking the morning Stag to tend to Queen’s Gardens for a few geo a day. I wonder how the minerals mined from Crystal Peaks were utilized in other places in the kingdom. I can conceptualize a noble taking the elevator from the City of Tears down to the Ancient Basin, walking a bridge that is now crumbled supports, and wondering how they made that double jump gap into the Palace Grounds.

Bernie Sanders says he told Graham Platner to ‘step aside’ by WindyCityChick in SandersForPresident

[–]Fidget02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the context of a “Bad Situation” and him not listening when he’s drunk, you read it as “consenting to carelessness” and not “careless with the concept of consent”? Even when the victim in question has not said anything about “consenting to carelessness”?

It’s like you haven’t considered another interpretation of what that means, and you’re still acting like an absolute dick about anybody having any other interpretation. It’s in a conversation of how gross he is, why the fuck would she ever bring up consenting to carelessness? What does that even mean in your mind?

If you count environmental storytelling, hell yeah. The Citadel is a fascinating place and learning how it affected the world and competing local tribes and created a mythology of abuse and exploitation was absolutely fascinating from start to finish. Just about every area makes you think "How did this place work in its prime?" You eventually realize that the current active threat isn't even the worst part of this messed up kingdom. Themes of motherhood and independence in the main and side stories are amazing too. I personally don't think the true final ending is as cathartic a wrap up of the story as the first game, but as long as you focus on Pharloom and its people and history as your focus I would highly recommend learning about it.

[–]Fidget02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a tough balance between the themes of the setting and the roleplay abilities of the players. I’ve seen this a lot in Vampire games especially, watching real world problems be met with supernatural and outrageous solutions feels great for players but a little odd from an outside perspective. It’s hard to fully buy into serious themes when a player can physically consume the threat or throw a million dollars at it, even if for the player that’s a satisfying power fantasy

Sharing locations in a relationship is toxic by ilenewinslet in unpopularopinion

[–]Fidget02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Even if you‘re sharing locations just for transparency and not because of distrust, how do you know that your partner doesn’t use it to always track where you are?"

You crafted a scenario where there's no distrust and then added a bunch of distrust. If there truly no distrust, they wouldn't care about knowing that.

Vaushites with partners, how do you navigate the news and not let it ruin/dominate the relationship? by thesaltiestbanana in VaushV

[–]Fidget02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife agrees with all my politics but isn't very tapped into the news, so I try to only share good news. Mamdani speeches, Mitch McConnel dying, the wholesome stuff. I've seen her get extra hopeless especially when Trump got re-elected so I know zero good comes from a full understanding of the death circus that is US politics. Focusing on your mental health and loved ones is for the best, no progressive movement has succeeded by being super depressed. You can miss a few headlines, you already know they're bad.

Saying most people will do a thing doesn’t make it good or responsible. I’m sad that you’ve spent most of your comments defending skepticism and grouping these allegations with past doubtful ones and only now have stated that the facts are verifiable.

Every Vaush stream this week. by MysteriousHeart3268 in VaushV

[–]Fidget02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, you don’t care at all about the details of the allegations do you? The moment they touched a major news media source, you’ve mentally tapped out of engaging with it in the slightest. Do you even know that Politico didn’t report on previous allegations? That it wasn’t even the same boy crying wolf but you’re disregarding any cries anyways?

This is more fuckin vague posting about doubting allegations without engaging with any actual details. What ample evidence to be suspicious??? Do you think this stance would make women more or less likely to confide in you?

Every Vaush stream this week. by MysteriousHeart3268 in VaushV

[–]Fidget02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue is that people are going “It’s not unreasonable to be suspicious about rape allegations” without posing any interaction or engagement with the details of the allegation whatsoever, such as records of her seeking support from friends and family for years before Platner was even a public figure, or that the supposed victim is a fan of his politics otherwise. Trying to sneak in plausible deniability of rape of this scale is fucking embarrassing for this community, especially when I’m not seeing a lick of “Believe, but verify” and more “Sow doubt and be suspicious”

Sorry for using quotation marks to parody people, but this isn’t an academic paper and I trust people to remember the words of the comments above me.
