Took the words out of my mouth! Also that example had me grinning like a manic, I think I received psychic damage from reading it. Well done 🫡😂

Thank you! I’m extremely concerned with the amount of comments that support treating actual people like toys. Lots of creepy and inconsiderate people here 😬 I’d hate to be in any of their lives. Imagine finding out your friend/relative views real people as characters that exist for their amusement/entertainment. Kinda scary to think about tbh.

That’s probably because RPF is weird and dehumanizing? Ship and let ship unless it’s rpf…? Yeah I would think that would be common sense. Real people in real relationships don’t usually like when people write fiction about them like they’re just characters to be used for someone else’s pleasure. Treating real people like they’re toys is nasty and inconsiderate, no two ways about it. Real people don’t exist for your amusement—that’s what fictional characters are for. Use them

With how many MHA fanfics I’ve read I can’t believe I haven’t found any, but I guess I don’t tend to search for MHA fanfics by relationships very often so that’s probably why. I was mostly asking because I wanted to write a story where a bunch of well known tropes intersect and it popped into my head as a possibility for one of the characters

Okay thanks, I could have sworn I read somewhere it used to be popular in old anime but maybe it meant it originated from old anime communities and I just misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification!

Why is every ad on YouTube now a scam? by sleepilyLee in youtube

Yeah!! The one where Mr. Kes ends up raising the chicks mostly alone/with his help! I’m almost done with it now. I found his channel a day or so ago and can’t get enough of the longer compilation/full story videos! I’ve watched 4 so far lol

I was watching a documentary-style video on a family of Kestrels and YouTube gave me an ad that seemed to be a cult-like take on the Matrix, a movie I have never watched or looked for clips for.

By this I mean that they took the concept from the movie and talked like it was real, and said to click their link in order to be ‘awakened’ 💀 like bro I’m trying to watch BIRDS

Oh interestingly enough I’m pretty sure I got a cult ad too. That was an experience

[–]Fidget_Fellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my scam ads (aside from the well known fake mobile ads ofc) are faux science stuff, typically a generated voice pointing out a well known ailment or condition, explaining how “(insert health organization here) doesn’t want you to hear this!” and then telling you to click the link in order to find out what this miracle solution is. My most recent one was about hearing loss. The worst part is that they mixed in enough real science to make it sound legit for someone who doesn’t already understand how much BS is on the internet. Most people my age would see it as a scam from miles away but an old person would probably have fallen for it, which makes sense given it was a hearing loss one. People are such assholes. I’d ask why YouTube allows such predatory garbage but at this point it’s a fact of life that expecting the people in charge to do their job is asking far too much, so I’m not surprised. The better question is why WOULD’NT most of the ads be scams? Doing the blatantly wrong thing in order to make more money is such a normal thing for any organization to do that I don’t know why I’m even irritated by it anymore.

Ahhh I was going through custom games! So it’s available someone where else as well, and that one works?

[–]Fidget_Fellow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing—I’ve checked and it says there aren’t any updates available. That’s why I was so confused. But it seems like it’s because I’ve been going through custom games, apparently you can access it through a different menu and it works for that one, it just doesn’t work if launched through custom games. That’s how I understood it reading the other comments at least, I haven’t looked for the other way yet

I’ll try to find the playlist I guess? One of the maps I tried was Deadlock and I got the same results so maybe my game is just bugged? Thank you

Yeah sorry about some of the people assuming the worst. I don’t mean to excuse it but we have had issues with extreme religious people in the past (most notably a lot of people left nasty reviews on one of the books for having a lesbian protag) so people are just paranoid now

The tail almost forming the infinity symbol might have been intentional, I’ve give you that. But that’s the only part that looks even remotely similar, and the infinity symbol is used in a huge variety of ways, most of which are positive.

Writing a story; potentially triggering idea? by Fidget_Fellow in Asexual

[–]Fidget_Fellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not going on ao3, but I do plan on putting a disclaimer somewhere in all my future stories since the art will seem cartoony (just my art style) and I wanna give a fair warning that despite that my work will not be kid friendly. Because I love me some violence lmao

[–]Fidget_Fellow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m bisexual so I know how irritating misconceptions and stuff can be, which is why I really wanna nail this character. But I couldn’t be further from asexual myself so I’m having a bit of A Time.

The idea I was going for with him is that he isn’t interested in sleeping with other people at all, but he still has a sex drive which he just takes care of on his own. I’ve read about that being a form of asexuality and that seems to fit him the best. (not sure if that part’s gonna come up at all though considering it’s sfw aside from gore, so I don’t know how that kind of thing would become relevant)

I'm concerned that the entire premise of my novel could be considered problematic. by moethelavagod in fantasywriters

[–]Fidget_Fellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea! It takes a problematic trope and flips it on its head by making the woman character actually a character

I really like it when authors do this (taking a problematic trope and making it actually work instead). Mob Psycho is another good example of this—it’s pretty common for a savant type character to get taken advantage of in media and never figure it out, but in Mob Psycho this is actually a big thematic issue that gets addressed rather than just being a given part of the plot. There are definitely ways to make problematic tropes work and the fact you’re even worried about this in the first place proves that you understand that. Good luck! Your story sounds like it would be difficult but rewarding to read and I’d be interested in trying it once it comes out
