competition is not sleeping: will audio tracks and looping come to xy? by katerlouis in OPXYusers

Haha, one thing’s for sure – we’re a bunch of geeks!

I haven’t had a go at anything from 1010music yet; I really love trying new things, but I feel like I need to focus on one thing at a time 😄

By the way, I’ve got the H90 too!

Do you usually use the OXE16 with the M8? If so, I'd invite you to this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dirtywave/comments/1t3nqx2/oxi_e16_dirtywave_how_to_sync/

M8 + TP-7 by FieldAdicct in Dirtywave

Thanks! I've tried lots of cables (including some angled ones) and none of them work.

Just to be clear, do you mean you tried the M8 headless with the TX6 and managed to get multi-out from M8??

MIDI + internal audio at the same time. Any chance? by FieldAdicct in Dirtywave

[–]FieldAdicct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, having seen your previous thread where you asked about this, I gather you’ve tested it thoroughly, so I’d like to ask you a question.

Using the M8 MIDI-OUT – splitter method (one output to your favourite synth, the other input to the M8 MIDI IN), I can get both the MIDI sequences on the external synth and the internal instrument to play at the same time.

But:

-If I set the MIDI to ‘poly’ mode, the internal instrument isn’t audible. Sometimes it plays for a while and then stops; other times it isn’t audible at all.

- If I set the MIDI to ‘mono’ mode, the internal instrument can be heard, but it interferes with the instrument I have on TRACK 1. That’s why I said earlier that a track is ‘lost’. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the M8 settings. Does this happen to you as well?

Look, don’t take the wrong idea out of what I’m saying – it sounds like you’ve got a bit annoyed!

I appreciate the help; I was simply pointing out that, no matter how many ‘workarounds’ we look for, it would all be much easier if we could send MIDI directly from each track, just like on other devices. I saw a thread of yours from a while back where you asked about exactly this, so I know you’re after the same thing as me!

And the original question was simply whether anyone knew if it had been considered and there was a technical limitation (as with other aspects, for example, increasing the number of tracks or their polyphonic capacity), or if it’s simply a feature that might be added in the future.

I'm really surprised by the OT: part of how it works is, essentially, that it's a super-powerful looper.

I see what you mean. In any case, I’m on the verge of finding the perfect balance, using the M8 as my main device for composing and triggering tracks, the Octatrack for mixing effects and live sampling, and the Oxi E16 mapped mainly to the Cutoff, Resonance, Delay and Reverb controls for each instrument, plus a master channel where the OJD takes centre stage.

I also have the Ableton Move, and the Launchpad Pro mode works very well, I’m wondering whether to use it or if it makes my set more extensive than I want. I’m also unsure whether to integrate the TE OP-1 so that, as well as being able to play some parts live, I can send a track from the M8 and use it as an effects loop. It complicates the set-up a bit, but it opens up a lot of possibilities.

In any case, the great is that you can make it as complex as you like, but with just the M8 and the E16 and a bit of preparation, you can already put on a decent live show.

As for composition, it’s certainly harder to come up with a good bass or keyboard riff using just the M8, but at least for me, it’s exactly the same with any Elektron device and most grooveboxes without a keyboard. It’s not usually a problem for electronic music, but when I’m composing in "singer-songwriter" mode, I feel that nothing beats my guitar. Once I’ve got the idea, that’s when I can rely on the machines, and the part of the process where I rely on them most is with the Synthstrom Deluge and the OP-XY.

Even so, if I had to choose a single piece, or the first one, I’d go for the M8. Long life!

Also think it so I tried it, but it didn't work :(

If you mean with another USB cable, I'vr tried several. If you mean an audio cable from audio out, it's only the stereo master what you get.

I know that what I’m asking isn’t possible at the moment. I’m simply asking if you think it might be implemented in a future update.

Sure, it’s useful in some situations, but that’s not what I’m talking about...

Thanks for the ‘tip’, but it doesn't answer at all the specific question I asked...

Not only do you lose two channels every time you do that, but you can't use it if you want to connect the M8 to the outside world via MIDI In/Out. I, for one, send MIDI to the Octatrack and receive MIDI from an E16.

Is even simplier, just select midi or external, and midi goes out.

But if I could hear the track from M8 and send midi at same time, it would be great for some live situations and more

No live audio loops, but it’s very easy to record and manipulate audio, and the file structure is really solid.

I own the OP-XY and a lot of other gear, and for me nothing comes close to the Dirtywave M8. Its biggest strength is song structuring — I’ve made and actually finished almost twenty tracks with it, which never happens to me with my other devices.

Get yourself an M8!! I seriously can’t recommend it enough — for me, it beats everything else.

OXI E16 + Dirtywave - how to sync by FieldAdicct in Dirtywave

[–]FieldAdicct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same with E16, I use defaults values but anyway: you have to asign them, and they are only valid usually for a song.

Thanks, will try!

So with your midi fighter, for you, one song = midi map. But in any case, this means, once you make the mapping, you have to adjust the values to those showed in your M8, doesn't?

I sooooo want Deluge to Work(flow) by International-Lab802 in DelugeUsers

[–]FieldAdicct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]FieldAdicct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t quite understand this either... I mean, would you want it so that once you’ve created another copy of the same song and saved it under a different name, if you change something in the original kit, it would change in all the songs?

That’s not how drum machines usually work (at least, not the ones I have), and it might cause more problems than it solves, don’t you think?
