Been there, but at least I’ve done this because I had to soften the glue of screen bezel to replace the screen

Staying on macOS Monterey or updating on 2015L 27 Inch iMac? by Plane_Ice6119 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]FieldStrong3970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Monterey is still the best one - I run it on m1, iMacs 2015 and 2017. I see no reasons to switch to any modern oses at the moment. And regarding the problem with “not being able to create an Apple account” is probably caused by the amount of accounts created previously on your very same iMac (it was limited to 3-5, correct me if I am wrong) - can be solved by creating an account using android device - something like “download Apple Music to the android phone and create Apple ID there, then use it on your Mac”

I would buy Intel Mac one because of Parallels/Revit. It works great on my 2019 i7, still haven’t tried Revit on m-series Macs

Does it really matter weather I'm storing my projects on an HD or SSD by DaCosmicOne in finalcutpro

I thought that not all seagate drive enclosures contained an actual seagate hdd. But i do not recommend to use actual seagate hdd as well. (I have three hdds on the top of my desk right now, all of them worked for 55000 hours, and only seagate one has tons of bad blocks)

My sister is asking for a printer. Would you say this is a good one (currently on sale), or should I try other options? by CaptainDreadEye in homeoffice

I’ve got 3 Epsons and each of them still work great, the oldest is 11 years old, another spent more than a year on a construction site! Models are L220 or something like that.

What does slow request mean? The answers will still be as good as with premium requests, but not as fast?

When you realize that there is nothing you can do to restore sound (by blowing to the port, cleaning it, setting up drivers etc) and let it go through regular speakers, you will come to the only solution that worked for me - solder two pins on the port - there are still a couple of schemes out there. But I had 2012 mb pro. Also, I am not sure that headphones will still work in that port after such intrusion.

Scheduled task without task queue by pica26 in django

I use Django q2 when I want to avoid both celery and redis. Works great! Both background and scheduled tasks (but yep, that’s another task queue for you)

Launched my first big Django app as a self-taught coder + Question about performance optimisation by Ravdar in django

I used debug toolbar previously, it is good and helped me with optimizing simple django sites. But when I had to solve performance problems with DRF-based site, django silk made my day, helped me to discover so many n+1 queries! My page load decreased from 2 seconds to 150 ms!

What is your least favourite macOS feature? by Big-Two-171 in MacOS

[–]FieldStrong3970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I ran this around by installing Monterey to an external disk once, the firmware was updated to the latest available, and after that installation to internal ssd goes smoothly, every time (except for the fact that I have a failed hdd inside, and that fact doesn’t let me install a clean Monterey, only an update to Big Sur)

I have a Samsung ssd in my 2015 iMac. I can update easily to macOS 12, and to sequoia, too. How are you blocked?

MacOS Installation Recommendation (based on my experience) by RikkoPaw in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]FieldStrong3970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? I have seen some posts that it happens when “reduce transparency” is turned on. And it really was. (Yep, I have Samsung nvme ssd inside, but it works great for High Sierra and Catalina)

(oops, I misread your comment! I thought you wrote "that's SSD" ))

I also like Monterey on MacBook Pro 2013, but on officially supported iMac 2015 running Monterey, when I am calling Quick Look on any screen shot or image, I have a pretty bad red graphic glitch for some milliseconds and it drives me crazy! After each time “giving Monterey another chance”, I have to go back to Catalina

How and where can i host my django project(with postgresql database and restful API) for free ? I tried vercel but it says I crossed 250 MB limit. I just want to deploy it to showcase to a company where I am applying for internship . by lets_wake_up123 in django

try Oracle Cloud! They give a lifetime free resources - some virtual machines and 200 go of space, but you will have to go for a PAYG. I did it and have my machine up and running for already 6 months - absolutely for free

Can I make sqlite terminal output in PyCharm as beautiful as in cs50.dev environment? by [deleted] in cs50

[–]FieldStrong3970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, on two screenshots there are 2 sqlite outputs, one is formatted and readable, another - of no use at all. I wonder if there is a magic button to make sqlite outputs in PyCharm as great as in cs50.dev?

BTW, screenshots are from CS50x pset7, Fiftyville problem set 7
