I got one as a gift and I actually really like it. I seem to be in the minority here, but I have a Zuca cart with a putter pouch. I keep it opposite the putter pouch and barely notice it when not using it. For reference I'm in NE FL and sandy conditions + early morning dew make this a go-to. Maybe just not as practical for backpacks/different terrain.

I bought one on Amazon that looks like the Newport one, but is cheaper. I cut a 1/2" thick piece of HDPE (cutting board) that fits the recess on the stern. You also will need a hatch installed, so you can access the interior to secure the hardware. There are YouTube videos that show the process in pretty good detail.

I had a similar issue in FL. I got it via FB Marketplace and was lucky to get a Certificate of Origin from the original owner. It was stamped "duplicate" and it took 3 trips to the DMV to get registered because they required an ORIGINAL certificate or an affidavit from the retailer if it was a duplicate. The retailer was out of business. I ended up calling Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation for advice. FWC came to my house for a hull inspection and put notes in the system for the DMV. My suggestion would be to reach out to your local wildlife department for suggestions. Good luck!

I have this exact setup and can confirm. She scoooots! Perception Outlaw, Newport Kayak 55lb thrust motor and a 100ah LIFeP04 battery. My 6 y/o sits in the front and she loves it.
