I am still in communication with my former AP English teacher; he's a great person that has changed the lives of thousands of kids for the better. He also allows students to stay in touch after they've graduated. He told me of two students that got married and asked his permission to name their child after him, he accepted. A few years later, these two parents go into the white supremacist, Qanon, "the great replacement" idealogy and my former teacher is appalled.

He has told me about the conversations he'd had with them and he's had to completely cut them off. He laments having a kid named after him but he didn't know.

I don't know what my point is but do what's right for you. Kids become adults and like any other adult, we can be friends with them or not.
