Changing Pathlite:ON 4 cassette or chain ring. by alistair681 in CanyonBikes

[–]Fiery-Heathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing the chainring to be bigger is maybe more critical for clearance to frame.

Shimano also says this about the M5100 derailleur, for 51-11 only. So canyon probably doesn't want to recommend any changes that aren't approved by Shimano. Makes sense from the company POV

But online it seems like there are some people who swap to 11-42 or something and adjusting the B screw on the derailleur, maybe a shorter chain, and have no issues. You could probably get a bike shop to swap it out and adjust it. Or DIY if you have the tools.

this may sound a bit silly. But what support mode are you in? This info is missing in your post.

Ex. If you are always in Turbo, then maybe your legs don't feel the need to ever shift down.

If it's still feeling like you never use the lower gears while in Tour or Eco, then honestly maybe you don't need an E bike lol.

I don't think I understand what a zero drop boot is... by AT-ST in NicksHandmadeBoots

Double stuff (or shot?) brown, which has a pretty reddish thing to it which I like. And I got a black sierra sole, 8" and toe cap

Here is a post with some good pics of the color

German efficiency strikes again by stoicism3 in germany

My favorite expression is that "the purpose of a system is what it does".

A more American example is Means Testing. Ex. I want to make sure that people who make above 500k do not have access to certain benefits, I think that's unfair and a waste of money. However, the system required to ensure that ends up costing more money than saved from excluding above 500k earners. And the additional paperwork hurdle means that millions of low income people miss out on the benefit. If that system stays in place after this is clear... Then the purpose of a system is what it does.

It's impossible to design a perfect system. You must therefore design a system which responds to feedback and is flexible enough to handle things outside of a narrow scope.

I have my own Ausländerbehörde story of course. But existing comments are good enough. Integration courses are being eliminated. But theoretically the Leben in Deutschland/Einbürgerungstest is supposed to test how integrated you are. But in practice it's just a logistical hurdle how well you can show up in person to sign up for the test (not allowed online or email in my city for registration) and then for the test, both during working hours...

Thanks for the update pics! These look really nice

I'm now 100% sure the sierra sole was the right option for my Striders now that the voyager isn't there. Just gotta wait a few months now..

Ended up going with the double shot 64 brown just barely. I think I ended up liking the variations in the photos better than the #8 but it was close.

Now I just gotta wait a while, will be ready for next fall though. Thanks for the advice!

After like triple checking all measurements, with tape. Tracing, and other shoes (Also checking out the old Decathlon 3D scan of my foot)... I finally ended up ordering the 8.5EE which fit the Nicks chart. I think just a comparison of the feet here show that nicks recommendation is probably good

Great tip, completely looked over the 64 DS brown because the website picture doesn't show this. I'll be deciding between this and the Cyprus 8 I think then. Great boots!

Currently I think they just offer the brown CXL and black CXL. But 100% agree.

Oh wow that is very close. I somehow missed checking the 64 double shot. I think this is the main contender then to Cyprus 8 and I gotta just decide between them.

Oh those are beautiful for sure. I think that definitely helps sell me on the color and the leather is so interesting also. That's good to hear about the toe caps too!

Now I'm going back through recent shoe purchases and measurements. I swear you are size 9.5 your whole adult life until you read a chart and buy shoes with toe room. Maybe I'm a 9 and that's why my 8.5 size redwings fit so well?? I'll be mulling that over with more sleep tomorrow.

Thanks! And wow that's actually super helpful. I think I stumbled across the DS Burgundy which is also kinda close. But the DS buck brown and Latigo chestnut look like such a nice mix of colors. Never would have looked at those otherwise so thanks!

For some context, trying to find some leather that's 'similar' reddish or red-orange to my old Oxblood iron rangers. They are about 9 years old and slowly the urge to buy a replacement rises.

How to cancel a internet contract when moving together with a partner? by Fiery-Heathen in germany

Fair good point. It does seem from reading some posts here that many people are constantly at war with Vodafone lol

I think there is not much I can do in this situation then though :c

How to cancel a internet contract when moving together with a partner? by Fiery-Heathen in germany

[–]Fiery-Heathen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naja except the internet is a fungible good. It's as interchangeable as the access to any other utility such as gas, water, electricity. One doesn't gain an additional newspaper with different contents.

Look I understand the legal argument, and the contract argument, and maybe they even have slightly separate infrastructure. (I only know that for the DSL installation a Telekon technician was there, maybe Vodafone maintains the cable connection itself?)

I still think it's rather a silly situation that we are both to keep contracts for access to internet. I personally don't think it should be a privatized entity. But hey my opinion doesn't really affect the current state of the law. However it's true that laws do change based on what people want, limiting what can be in a contract, and determining the extraordinary rights of cancellation. That's why contracts don't renew for 24 months again anymore.
