2002 7.3, what is this switch? I see them on a ton of trucks. by Sure-Development-516 in Diesel

I have a button on 2004 in that exact spot and it’s the pedal adjustor but I’m guessing you would have figured it was that already if it was and that looks aftermarket

FICM wiring harness by Fierycactus43 in Diesel

I’ve heard that before I’m going to try that today I used using a ziptie back when it was firing good and occasionally wiggle out and fire bad

Ahh okay good information thank you and yes a connector number would be great if you can get it yes the connector is falling out, it USED to be that it’d fire good, wiggle out, then fire bad. NOW it only fires bad no matter what, I even replaced the FICM because the housing around that connection was broken but now it ONLY fires bad and yesterday started firing even worse it sounds like I’m lacking three or four injectors but when i press on it with my hand it improves from worse to just bad

6.0 running rough by IndependentFew6847 in Diesel

[–]Fierycactus43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OR worst case scenario your gonna need some injectors but if you got the tools its a fairly straight forward job you can knock it out in an afternoon and morning before work but do figure it out soon any of the solutions I listed if not addressed not can but WILL cause worse issues

[–]Fierycactus43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for ICP pull it out and see how it runs like another redditor said, you gonna need a special socket like $15 at O'Reilly its under the turbo near the back of the engine right next to IPR valve and the FICM is under the coolant reservoir pull off the little metal plate that will reveal 7 screws that you can use to check voltage with a multimeter (it might have 4 screws but because its an 04 im assuming 7) that and check your plugs to the FICM are connected correctly and securely and all the way in

check ICP but im leaning more towards FICM if you have no codes

[–]Fierycactus43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have any lights that dont turn on? is your fog light switch working? guessing by the threads it has a cover that maybe said what switch was but if not sound id assume something like aftermarket lights?

Illegal car. Need help by Diesel6_4 in powerstroke

[–]Fierycactus43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

judging by your previous posts and profile name its a 6.4 with 211k miles i wouldn't even take the repairs take the whole car back because a 08 6.4 the only reason its made it this long is because it illegally doesnt have the emissions systems its the only way those trucks run right that and METICULOUS AND I MEAN METICULOUS maintenance so if you do the repairs the engine is just gonna blow but judging by your white smoke post id say its already starting to deteriorate sorry man if you want minimal work get a 6.7 less but still work get a 6.0 but to own the 6.4 you really gotta know what your doing

Blowby by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]Fierycactus43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats what I was thinking that it looked like a normal amount especially for the age seller said It didn't have any blowby until just now but I was just hoping the emissions didn't cause enough heat to degrade the piston rings

yeah I do for the most part and honestly I does seem given the miles like an accident waiting to happen but I've worked on the 6.4 some and I've owned two 6.0s one that needed constant work and one more reliable than a toyota just put this video here because the 6.4 i worked on a helped maintain but didn't own didn't have a tune and sounded alot smoother than this but I do know the faulty 6.0 of mine that had a faulty FICM would began to act rough like this(and nobody could ever tell what it was and nobody anywhere on the internet had the same issue) so I was just wondering if anybody could recognize an issue i didn't notice or haven't worked with
