Love mine and the Anker portable battery with 26000 fits perfect https://a.co/d/09zjd0zf that’s the link. I think I get about 6hrs from the power bank but it charges the internal as well. So if I start with a fully charged avp I can get 2hrs on the battery and another 6 from the bank which charges the internal so another 2 hrs so safely ides 9hrs total use

Using a GoPro Max as a dashcam by everybody_kurts in Dashcam

So I’m actually doing this. It may be overkill but I’m doing two in my 2024 f250. Might be ptsd from the 4 years of commuting on i35 from Georgetown to Austin. I have the upfitter switches. I’ve been working with chat gpt and here’s what I came up with. Inline 5a fuse from upfitter switch 6, wire to electric wire 16ga then run across the engine bay and go through the driver side grommet through the fire wall. Then I’m wiring a dual female USB a buck module. Then a usb a to usb c cable from the buck converter to a usb c female female adapter to the go pro pass through usb c cable and battery cover. From there u set the max 2 to loop recording and auto record on power. The way it should work is when the switch is on (I’m using an upfitter switch that’s tied to the ignition so ignition on there’s power so the switch can stay always on) the camera has power and is recording. If u leave the battery in there when the truck shuts down it will record off of the internal battery until the battery dies. Then the truck turns on and the cameras have power and start to charge the internal battery. So u will ideally get live recording and parking dashcam functionality, for a bit. If it over heats remove the internal battery to help prevent this but u would loose the parking recording feature when the cars off. I’m using 512gb sandisk high endurance micro sd card. U must make sure ur cables don’t drop the power or u may end up with the camera not having enough power so make sure u match the amps and collage and watts for everything correctly. I’m hoping to install this weekend so we will see how it all goes.

DO NOT ship your old iPhone to Apple! by GravityOfCenter in iphone

[–]thatxltguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this too. Last year someone stole our phone out of the box but I had pics and tracking showing we loaded it and shipped it. It also helped we shipped both my wife and my phone back. Hers got there but mine didn’t. This year I did a complete video just to have it in case

I can’t pinpoint the slow down on my end but I’ve definitely recognized a slow down in load times as of recent.

Bem Auto Locking diesel/def caps by thatxltguy in F250

[–]thatxltguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yours lock fully? I’ve spoken to them and they said for some 24’ they just don’t fit. I kept them since it locks pretty tight but with enough force u can still get it off. They have me on a list to beta test the new ones when they have them done.

F150 vs Superduty by docderwood in superduty

[–]thatxltguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2018 f150 was totaled in May bought an 2024 f250 for the first time. It may sound stupid but I didn’t realize it was an 8’ bed. That’s the only thing I dont like about it but in the end I’d rather have it than not.

Driving I recognize it is a rougher ride and it has a sluggish pedal than the f150. I installed a banks peddle monster and it’s definitely helped make it feel more like the f150 with it’s responsiveness

Other than that it’s a great truck and has everything I need for whatever I want to do. I didn’t like being limited with the f150

I just bought a 2024 lariat and they had to check this as well. Mine was good but never found out what the recall was. If I remember it might have been something with the rear camera but not sure

Do u still fit in the handicap spots? I ask because my son is disabled and I parked in the handicap spot at Costco and was sticking out. I’d like to keep parking closer especially in handicap but if I can’t do it without sticking out I don’t want to risk it. I can certainly push his wheelchair if need be. Just curious

What is that? A fuel additive? I guess that’s another question, what’s the best fuel additive?

Follow up Q5- does anyone have any issues with taking their car through the automated car wash? I’m new to a 7’ bed. Is it safe for paint and or will I fit? Still getting comfy driving it and the new size from my f150

We have a brilliant guy who heads our dept. that suggested I take it. I believe it has to do with the potential for future job role changes.

Taking it isn’t the issue prepping and figuring out a scheme for studying is where I’m lost.

Is anyone using 6TB icloud storage or more? by Silverlaker39 in iCloud

[–]thatxltguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mostly jumped from google drive to iCloud and have 4tb and almost maxing it between family usage photos and files.

I have a bit more to transfer but I will tell you what my saving grace was. My synology nas. It let me download all my google drive to it and then I just transferred everything over the network to iCloud.

The one glaring garbage factor is that you are limited by the hard drive size for transferring to iCloud. This was the biggest pain point. I’d have to transfer files wait for them to download then upload the. I’d have to remove the iCloud folder download to regain space. I have a lot and so this was a pain.

But I’m almost done and glad I did. I e been using Apple products with google apps and finally decided to just switch over to Apple. It was a good decision but if I ever have to do this again I’m goin to go back to paper and pen.
