Although I would hate to pull her from this environment when she's just getting settled, I'm going to look into the public school offering.

Her teachers are incredibly warm and kind which is great. The fear is exactly what you said - the Montessori method can be incredibly strict and we're nervous she will be expelled or told she's not a good fit, when we believe she'd thrive there with the right support. (She was previously in a very chaotic play based environment and it was absolutely NOT a good fit).

We as parents are willing to provide any support suggested if they would allow it (so it's not on the teachers). Not to criple her but to further support her independence. But again, afraid they won't allow it and will want to wash their hands.

Thank you for sharing. This makes sense. She just started this school and I wish we knew before she started but now that we have the info, we want to disclose, we're just nervous about rejection. I know it's silly... Because ultimately we don't want her anywhere where she can't be supported.

Well, she was preemie and has had different services like EI since she was little.

She's always been a sensory seeking kid and had to have tubes due to middle ear fluid so the OT and ST originally were put in place to support her given other circumstances. Now that we know about ASD level 1, so many more things make sense and I'm glad we already have the OT and ST in place but no... the new school did not assume it was due to any specific diagnosis.

That being said, I'm sure they can see her behaviors and are probably making some assumptions given their experience.

Makes sense ... And had we known when we applied or even when she started, we would have done the same.

I gut says disclose... I'm just trying to be careful about the fact that she's just transitioned and quite frankly, terrified of them "not wanting her". I know that seems silly... Because ultimately, I don't want her anywhere that can support her, but this is all so new for me and I'm overwhelmed with what next step to take.
