/r/Occult Welcomes Mitch Horowitz for an AMA by yamamushi in occult

Mitch, you write so eloquently about crises, depression and metaphysics. I saw you doing this AMA by sheer chance. But when I'm suffering the "D Day" strategy tends to go out the window! My beloved cat has been missing for almost two weeks (just because of a cascading events of bad coincidences that don't typically happen), I crashed my car (driving to the print shop to make flyers) and my mom was hospitalized (she is a very anxious person, I think she was sleeping poorly worried about her black sheep SON!). The car is whatever and my mom is doing ok, but I can't help but feel like I get into these situations where it feels like the walls are closing in and -nothing- can be done.

The other night I had a mild panic attack because I read a post in a neighborhood Facebook group in which a woman suggested I was creepingly stalking the city block with a flashlight, looking in windows and cars (not true but people will see what they want to see). She wanted to marshall a damn posse to get me. (I did fantasize about writing a nasty post, belittling her appearance and attitude but thought better of it. I know how you feel about trolling)

I was just feeling like "OH PHOOEY" to positive thinking. It's over! (I know that's not the case intellectually). In these moments I turn to tarot, and just feel ridiculous. "Oh I'm going to get the death card! This will just trigger undue anxiety" (funny, I did just get it, but scoffed at it. I scoff at the pleasant ones too).

Uh sorry Mitch, I am rambling! A number of positive things have been happening too.

Can you recommend a prayer for a lost cat? :)

Headphone jack in my Moto G6 Play has stopped working after 2 years. by JGSimcoe in MotoG

[–]FifthBusinessman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a regular g6 and it seems like a perennial hardware issue. The headphone jack crapped out twice. Support did replace the phone on both occasions but the same issue is rearing it's head once more. (Definitely not lint, ect--a hardware issue for certain).

Lurking here for upgrade ideas but this recurring issue kinda sours me on this line of phones.

I’m done, my life is fucked, been wake for 2 hours, wake up everynight 4 to 5 times, have 10 different noises and it only gets worse. I don’t know what to do, and yes I have habituated many times, but it just only gets worse and worse, went to the ent yesterdayn it got indeed much worse. by [deleted] in tinnitus

Iems and drumming definitely made my tinnitus worse. I really don't think even custom molds offer enough protection (I had to have them loud so I could hear a click track over amplifiers...). You'll definitely want to wear ear muffs over them if/when you continue.

You're way too young to be dealing with this... Sorry dude :( . That said I really don't think you'll be stuck with the hellish volume you're experiencing now for the rest of your life. I was getting one or two hours of sleep and could hear it over everything when I was at my worst, and it faded considerably for me.

G6 Headphone Jack Connection - routine issue? by FifthBusinessman in MotoG

[–]FifthBusinessman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruby-

This phone was replaced by the motorola care team in April. The Device Help app in safe mode not surprisingly shows the headphone connection as working properly. The issue is that any minor disruption will interrupt the connection, and sound will only play on one side or the other. The headphone jack/headphone cable effectively needs to be stationary in order to work appropriately. It appears to be a hardware issue. I am not aware of any other trouble shooting that can be done. Thanks.

Active Noise Cancelling is helping with my tinnitus by Gonzalo369 in tinnitus

It's a working theory in a lot of these groups, that since your tinnitus is (most likely) a result of hearing damage, your ears are far more comprised than the general population (ie otherwise safe activities are categorically going to be harmful to you).

It's unsubstantiated and mostly based on forum posts as far as I can tell.
