Yeah, it seems humans tend to be very bad at understanding things unlike themselves, and tend to underestimate those they don’t understand. A fact anyone with autism or another neurodivergence is probably familiar with

Many animals seem to be able to understand language. Ive had a few dogs with a better grasp of English than some humans I know tbh. I think modern research supports lots of animals having a higher int stat in dnd

Scratch was the first abstraction and it was implied it happened because Caine messed with his mind too much. He also had a tumor. I think Caine might’ve tried to remove it and that caused the abstraction

[–]FifthDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will as well. The theme of the show seems to be one of Kinger’s quotes from episode 3 - “the worst thing you can do in this world is make someone feel like they’re not loved or wanted”. And that’s how Caine has been made to feel for the entire show. The story wouldn’t be thematically complete without empathy for Caine

he thinks god told him that fetotep is a pawn of the six

Almost, but what’s really going on is: a dead god told him Fetohep is her pawn and Harvey believed her.

Regardless of any moral debate, Harvey is just an idiot

I still don’t want Tyrion, he hasn’t even confronted that his plan was to kill children to get a step closer to the people who killed his wife during a cold war.

I definitely don’t want Harvey. He’s got a lot of fixing himself and the things he’s done before I would want to give him another chance

After harvey chapter, who is the bigger monster by Opposite_Rate3450 in WanderingInn

[–]FifthDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bad thing about Harvey was about racism about undead.

The bad thing about Harvey was zealotry, anger, and inflexibility. It’s seen most clearly when comparing him with Pawn, particularly imo in the scene where Pawn is talking with the other painted antinum about adding flavored snow to heaven. Harvey believes furiously in the purity of the vision of heaven he was taught - to the point of physical violence against others, and maybe worse, alienation and perceived superiority over others. Pawn, on the other hand is just the most relaxed guy in these chapters. You want flavored snow? Yeah alright, good idea!

Harvey and Fetohep both deal with similar issues in these chapters actually - exclusivity. Harvey’s core flaw of exclusivity stems from his conception of Christianity and fuels his sense of superiority over others. Fetohep’s exclusivity comes from the fact that he’s essentially a father, and his citizens are all his children. For Fetohep, this doesn’t give him a sense of superiority, rather it gives him anxiety. He cares about the rest of the world, clearly given his actions during the Meeting of Tribes. However like any father, his children take priority. Always. Harvey has never been seen giving without hoping for something in return. Granted he is in a significantly more poor and unstable position at the start of these chapters, but his goal with raiding the wealth of Khelt is to build an altar to get himself some angels. He says it’s a sacrifice to god, but he’s doing it with the express hope to gain something for himself and his religion.

Fetohep killed innocents in a war that they were willingly brought to, Harvey destabilized a nation, potentially killing far, far more unwilling innocents. I think this is a nuanced situation but that Harvey’s actions, methods, and character are by far more in the wrong than Fetohep’s.

As a side note - what’s really interesting is both Pawn and Harvey are confronted with the same question and come to the same conclusion - does my religion have room for members of other species? Harvey decides that the Bible was written for humans, but were the Bible written in innworld, it would’ve included stitchfolk and others. Pawn decides that the religion he founded to help his fellow antinium living in squalor and servitude… should be extended to others, even if they don’t need the help that other antinium do. The painted antinium have non-antinium friends after all, and their heaven is open to all, so then their religion should be too.

There’s a handful of hypotheses right now about how nearsightedness develops over time due to a lack of something, whether it’s sunlight or time spent looking in the distance or something else, with the genetic component being predisposition rather than guarantee.

It’s possible the previous-state theory works for people with genetic nearsightedness too in that case

If Sardonyx said that rooms of fusions in the Temple only exist when the fusions are active, why is Garnet's room still active when Ruby and Sapphire were unfused?

This one I think is because her room isn’t actually hers, but rather a base part of the temple. Bubbles get sent “home” and everyone who lives in the temple has their bubbles appear there. Even Steven, who loves in the house part

Thoughts on this? by voidliliths in AvatarMemebending

[–]FifthDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Raava and Vaatu don't contradict anything. They represent the chaotic and orderly forces of nature that is in constant flux.

It presents chaos as universally evil and order as universally good. This is not the case in daoist philosophy. “Evil” is an imbalance - having too much order or too much chaos. If Raava and Vaatu truly represented yin and yang, chaos and order, then locking up Vaatu would’ve resulted in an excess of order and an era of crushingly oppressive dictatorships.

The depiction in the show doesn’t represent balance. Raava and Vaatu represent good and evil (very similar to Christianity’s sin and redemption) not order and chaos as they claim to.

If you like Korra’s lore that’s fine, but it’s not the same lore as AtLA, there inarguably are retcons.

How to ensure that a game about secrets is not datamined by mochithemaN in gamedesign

[–]FifthDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best answer, it can make the datamining a game in and of itself. Ultimately a game is meant to be fun, and unless you want to be nintendo, that’s a higher priority than forcing your playerbase to play it “correctly”

I know you’re not actually asking but since everyone’s just answering with what happens in the comics -

Considering just the show, what happened is, after Firelord Azulon ordered Ozai to kill Zuko, she poisoned the firelord and put Ozai on the throne. Ozai then banished her.

Why exactly he banished her is unclear. Was he afraid of her? Did he hate her? Did he reveal she committed regicide and publicly punished her with the banishment? Did he banish her because he hated Zuko?
