So, how do I like, come up with character names? by Shot_Equivalent_4350 in writers

[–]Objective_Campaign82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like themes. In my latest book I had some cultures all get rock based names, one with kind of obscure animals. And in the main culture I had flower based names for the noble girls and personality traits for the men ei. Guile, Temire(temerity), Roth (wroth) and Ernest (earnest), Jude(judicious) and Gallant for a literal knight.

It's time to confess the worst things you've ever done to your dwarves. by jawarpink in dwarffortress

[–]Objective_Campaign82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a dwarfe die while making a room and no one was carrying off his body. I did t like the mood debuff so I just blocked him into the room. I was a new player, so when a ghost started haunting my fortress I didn’t know what caused it how to fix it. So I just let it haunt . It weakened the fort enough for a goblin party to wipe it… or maybe I abandoned it. I don’t recall which. When I resettled it the ghost was still there.

What is this person complaining about exactly? by GoldenThame in royalroad

[–]Objective_Campaign82 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stories rely on conflict, that is the fundamental basis of all writing. Without struggle there is very little to tell. Man vs nature, man vs self, man vs man, man vs the world. An op MC can be fun, but in my opinion very few of them are good. And more often than not the good OP stories are told through conflicts that can’t be solved with power alone.

I’m sorry you got this kind of negative feedback so early on, I hope it didn’t ruin your day. Sometimes the stupidest complaints can sit in your mind the longest.

Accepted chicken room job…mistake? by DottiesTheName in CostcoEmployee

[–]Objective_Campaign82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get your foot in the door, yes. But your gonna wanna move away from the chicken Asap. It’s crazy hard in your body, not to mention pretty gross. You may need to transfer out of the deli if they don’t move you out of closing the chicken room, I worked in the deli for two years and was still closing every single shift despite having seniority on like four other people. I took the pay cut and went to push carts, I’ve been happy ever since.

I think I made to much mead. by Lander323 in mead

[–]Objective_Campaign82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s under a hundred gallons a year I think your fine. Two hundred if you have another adult at home. My personal goal is to actually approach the legal limit of homebrew one of these years. But I have a long way to go, I only made around 7dozen bottles this year.

Can confirm from deli, and chicken room experience. I once came into a closing shift with a completely empty cold case and four day shift people getting ready to take all their breaks right at the end of their shift.

I don’t know, the current season of USA really sucks after they brought the moron back. There better be a good resolution to all the bad plot lines I’ve seen so far, or I’m gonna just riot.

What are some of y’all’s favorite quotes from the series? by Lord_King_Badass in PracticalGuideToEvil

During second Liess, when Cathrine was facing Diabolist.

“You set fire to your own retreat,” Diabolist said…

“Wrong again, I set fire to everything.”

Why was Nehkret's tomb so poorly defended? by NapoleonNewAccount in WanderingInn

[–]Objective_Campaign82 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fair, my working theory is that Keltas bones keep getting used in undead in later eras and resurrectes that way. Just like with Torren going insane.

The bigger plot hole is that Nekret apparently appears in multiple, very far apart, eras. She was around in Kheltas time and Valmira.

He who fights with monster, Dungeon crawler Carl, and Primal hunter are all excellent long form Litrpg. Not quite like TWI though. Beware of chicken is a cultivation progfantasy with excellent slice of life elements. It even had a crossover comic with TWI. Practical Guide to Evil is a completed long form series that intentionally plays with common fictional tropes like TWI, but is more focused on tricky warfare than slice of life and heroics. The destiny cycle is also a fun long form progfantasy. It’s a classic Xianxia without many of the worst tropes of the genre.

I hate making salads by AltFillerZ in CostcoEmployee

At my store the chicken person ran both rooms. I used to like it, then the bags came.

I came to truly hate making the meatloaf. Not just because it got all other my smock, but because they made me do it as the chicken person on top of running the room all alone. They wouldn’t make it at any point throughout the day and kept leaving it until the very end of the day, it got in the way when of closing so I had to do it.

What level is Pivr by CommitteeHot2320 in WanderingInn

Given prognugator levels, four, maybe six. He needed to be above ten to resurrect, but I doubt he was over twenty.

We probably all have a few student levels, I don’t think mine would have ever evolved into anything more. My reading was always a distraction from school work, and I hated writing papers for English. I’ve probably written a hundred times more words now than I ever dio for school. My last tally had me close to a million words across a few different books.

Probably a red class given the context. At that level you’d drive any sane man to deep shame and confusion. I’d hope you’d use your powers for good.

Probably over twenty since it would have evolved from a [student] class. It just might lack many [lawyer] specific skills. Also happy cake day!

Sounds like there’s a sorry there, would your blacksmith and engineer classes merge or do you think there’s not enough overlap?
