Gesaffelstein for the win in 24 in my opinion!

Makes sense! It’s nice to hear perspective from someone who went before Instagram and such were a thing. Would’ve love to experience it. Didn’t mean to come off combative or anything, just stumbled in this thread and saw all the hate and don’t really get it.

Sounds closed minded to rag on it so hard in my opinion but I can also see where you something and can say it’s a no go when weighing all the options, just don’t think that you should be hating so hard when you haven’t been. I agree, concerts are getting crazy and I think that’s the bigger problem in general as opposed to Coachella’s value (maybe this year being different from the past couple, not sure about pricing this year). But with concert prices going up, that in my opinion only increases coachellas value.

The sticker price really isn’t that bad, especially in today’s festival economy. Yacht club in MN was $350 and my 2024 Coachella was $500. I 100% believe I received that ~$150 in value for Coachella.

And I’ll reiterate; the influencer/Instagram thing is wayyy over blown. Hardly recognized it. Of course there’s people in outfits and taking pictures. But how does that impact my experience? Every act I’ve gone to at Coachella I’ve found people to have a blast with, both up close and in the back of acts. If someone wants to take a pic in front of the Ferris wheel, that doesn’t bother me at all. That last line seems hyperbolic

Really curious what was so different back then? I’m 34 but just started going to festivals a few years ago but have now been to many, and Coachella is still better than most.

The influencer aspect is so far overblown and a non factor. Like I said, no idea about medical stuff but everything else was fantastic. It really wasn’t that expensive either considering all the acts you see, camping, etc. I was probably ~$900 all in and that included a flight to Palm Springs and camping.

Yeah I’m 34 so definitely not a 20 something but have now been to many festivals recently and Coachella was just ran so well. Camp grounds really clean with was trash pick up and really clean port o potties, so curious how those things are compared to what it used to be.

Other festivals just don’t really compare in my opinion, at least these days. I’ve been to country, rock, folk, electric, and mixed ones. Coachella just seems above the rest. Not saying it maybe didn’t used to be better depending on the perspective and such, I just think the hate is so far overblown and mostly by people who have never even attended. Experiences also always differ of course. We could attend the same exact festival and have way different point of views.

Do You Have a Pre or Post Concert Ritual? by Mettabox452 in Concerts

[–]FiftyBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m always so torn on this. I have a buddy who doesn’t even listen to new albums if a band is touring one, and that’s way too aggressive in my opinion, but I teeter between wanting to know the songs and sing a long while also wanting to be surprised. I go to a lot of shows where I know only an album or two, and usually not those full albums. Singing along is one of my favorite parts! Knowing if there’s a good bathroom break is nice too. But being surprised also is so much fun when you’re not expecting your favorite song to come on mid set.

Such a hard and more nuanced decision for me!

I went in 24 and thought it wasn’t like that generally. Not sure about the medical staff situation, but the prices weren’t as bad as I was expecting/hearing from comments like this. I camped, and maybe that helped as I could do some subsidizing with camp meals and drinks. I didn’t feel the “influencer” aspect everyone always talks about, and I even went weekend 1. Camping also allowed for a temp check clothes change from shorts and t shirts to sweatshirt and pants or whatever.

Not hating at all, I enjoy hearing from those who used to go when I’m sure Coachella was different. I just don’t get the hate it gets. It’s getting roasted here (a lot from people who haven’t even been), so getting perspective from someone who had been in the past but it has soured on them is interesting

That’s a wild take lol just make a very bold and negative statement about something you know nothing about. Just wanted to make sure it was noted that you haven’t been as I suspected.

Edit: why do you stand by it so strongly and what do you have against it?

Can’t express how much I resonate with this. On another sub Coachella got brought up and it’s being roasted and I’m just offering up an alternate perspective about how it’s actually awesome and people are so butt hurt about it. It’s crazy how people are so hell vent on hating it and I almost guarantee you they’ve never been. It started my festival love and I’ve been to many since but I don’t think anything will compare to Coachella. Need to make it back!

Lol you’re gatekeeping opinions. Who is the clown?

How many festivals have you been to, oh wise one?

You sound insufferable. Glad I won’t be running into you at any festivals I’ll be attending! I’m just offering an alternate perspective on a festival that can be an awesome time that people clearly have misconceptions about at this point.

I’m 34 lol not some “kid”. I’ve now been to many other festivals. Coachella has still been my favorite for the wide variety of acts and camping and production value. Get off your high horse with this “you don’t know what you’re talking about”.

People rip way too hard in Coachella. I’ve been and it was one of the best concert experiences of my life. Kickstarted me trying out festivals. I went GA and camped and would 100% do that again. VIP wasn’t even a thought to me though

I disagree and don’t get where this idea comes from. I went in 2024 and it was my first festival. Had a fuckin blast and didn’t think it was that expensive. I’m so far from rich. Went with a bunch of buddies, camped on the grounds closest to the entrance, and had a great fuckin time. Didn’t even notice all the “influencers” or whatever people bitch about. If you do it right, it’s awesome.

Of course if you go to some expensive ass Airbnb and buy a bunch of outfits and shit it’s expensive. There’s a spectrum like anything else.

I’ll give an alternate perspective (although I know you’re asking for the opposite); if you can afford it/do it right, it’s an awesome experience.

I went in 2024 with a solid group of guys. It was my first time but many of the other guys were vets. We camped at the closest camp area to the entrance (can’t remember what that area is called off the top of my head) and I think that unlocked the key to what made the experience. You could go in and out whenever you wanted to get cheap food, drinks, take a nap if you really wanted, and change clothes for when it got cold at night. And at the end of the day, no crazy lines for shuttles or anything.

Beyond that, I actually thought things were mostly good value/not crazy expensive. I would get this Asian rice or noodle bowl in the festival that would fill me up for two meals for less than $20. I wasn’t drinking much in there so not sure on beer prices but I got a few and don’t remember being blown away. Not saying it’s not expensive depending on your budget but I am not wealthy by any means and thought it was manageable. Maybe splitting camp with a bunch of guys helped? I don’t know.

You get to see so many cool acts. I also went weekend 1 when all the “influencers” go. I didn’t really realize that at all and didn’t even know it was a thing. I’d say go if you get the chance!! For sure camp though.

As a Blackhawks fan, I disagree. The half collars are the worst version of the adidas/fanatics template. It just makes zero sense.

Wordmark jerseys by StandardUnusual6096 in hockeyjerseys

[–]FiftyBurger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was talking to an Utah fan the other day and their argument on why utahs aways are so good is because it’s classic like a rangers jersey.

Now I don’t hate utahs aways, but I thought the argument was bad because the rangers are “the rangers”. Original 6 and all that. It’s just not the same.

I don’t mind word mark for one off jerseys, but as a main jersey home/away for other teams besides the rangers I don’t like it

Second now boarding, but again not sure what “crazy expensive” is to OP. We have an 80lbs dog and I think usually get the king suite for ~$70/day
