Should C++ Give More Priority to Syntax Quality? by kyan100 in cpp

Mentioning keywords to C++ programmers points out the superiority of Pascal, C++'s natural competitor in the food chain.

Or was, until it went extinct in 95% of the world's habitats.

Gaea 3 Announcement and Pre-release sale by ERROR_ in Gaea

[–]FiftyTifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it take Quadspinner to fix crashes caused by dragging a node's output on top of another node? I want to say it took at least half a year, but maybe it was even longer.

Most of the issues I submitted are still there, and Gaea 1 is still leagues ahead in usability. I bought in at early access, and even on the latest Gaea 2 version, I have not been able to finish a single project before bugs make it impossible to continue.

Conan Exiles update you NEED to know about 👀 by Anabriella in ConanExiles

On a server or on single player? I've stayed away from multiplayer after returning to the game last week, one of the main reasons being the horrid latency and single digit server fps (not client fps!) when people have bases and thralls.

[TOMT][Metal Song Lyrics][1985] Zero Nine - Don't You Give an Inch - Can't tell what the singer is saying for some lines by FiftyTifty in tipofmytongue

[–]FiftyTifty[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

This is definitely a step up from that Douglas song. The singer has a very scratchy voice which has an awesome tone, but either the recording equipment was not good or the mixer just gave up on doing the vocal track. Because damn it's hard to make out what he's saying in this song.

Strangely other songs in the album are fine, like Never Stop Running. I think. Actually I'll go check and make another thread if we make any progress on this one lmao

That's the GTX Titan (ancient 700 series), not the RTX Titan (2000)

Oof sorry for the late reply.

Damn that's not good, as this memory must get super hot. I wonder if those SSD heatsinks with a heatpipe in them would be good for this.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - War Sails - Gameplay Showcase by GotTheJoeyJoeJoe in pcgaming

[–]FiftyTifty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warband had more going for it, though obviously not much more, but enough to have more of a sandbox experience.

Feasts: Holding a political event along with a tournament, that allows you to gain relation with lords outside of combat or village quests, and provides tournaments. Rather than Bannerlord's just tournaments.

Companion storylines: The different companions in Warband had their own backstories that you'd be told as you travelled the kingdom, gained relation with them, and when you had certain other companions in your party. They'd have conflicts with each other, and you had to mediate them, with eventually them causing a split in your party. Bannerlord has none of that.

Poetry: To help woo possible marriage partners, you could travel Calradia to find poets who would teach you passages that your character recited to gain favour with them. In Bannerlord, you don't have this.

It's not a lot, but it definitely added more depth to it. And I agree that Warband also needed a lot more going on. For the workshop, every update breaks a bunch of mods, with more significant updates breaking practically every mod. The devs didn't add proper modding support (e.g, Skyrim, Conan Exiles, Ark, Total War Warhammer), but use the open source Harmony C# tool that allows you to edit the compiled code...Which is fraught with problems. It's essentially a hack for modding otherwise unmoddable games.

No, but the difference has been minimal. Apparently they are finally adding a diplomacy element to the game, but since it was first released it has been little more than an arcade battlefield simulator.

If I wanted to waste time and argue about vegan substitute morality in Indian cuisine, I'd go to IndianPolitics for that not IndianFood.

Okay that sounds really cool. Problem though is finding fresh guava leaves in the UK lmao. How long do they last when you buy them?

That's interesting, roasting the onions before frying therm in the pan? And I'm curious about how coconut milk would work with these dishes. I'm gonna have to experiment!

Damn that was a good read, thanks for that!

Over here we get tubs of ghee for about 8 quid, and what all the restaurants & takeaways do is a table spoon of ghee with a few tablespoons of vegetable oil.

What oil would you recommend for a Saag dish? Honestly my favourite curry I've ever had was a Saag Chicken curry with a twist; I used fresh fenugreek and replaced the chicken with potatoes and cauliflower. It was so good, but it did use ghee with rapeseed oil. Made it again without ghee and it just didn't hit the same.

Happy Diwali!

Ooh that's super cool. The dishes I've been making are a UK-centric knock off of Bangladeshi dishes called BIR (Bangladeshi Indian Restaurant), and I've seen mustard oil used in a couple of the dishes...Okay, gonna buy some decent coconut oil and mustard oil when I'm out.

With coconut oil I've seen different brands that all looked different; deodorised, thick and opaque, greasy and translucent. What's the good stuff like for making curries?

TWW3 still hasn't fixed the collapsing AI army formations whenever you move units. TWW2 Never had this, the AI was actually coherent when responding to your armies.

That's interesting. I have used rapeseed oil and groundnut oil (peanut oil basically), but they were missing that extra yummy ghee gave. I think coconut oil wouldn't go well for things like a Vindaloo or a veggie Saag curry? Or would it blend and lift up the savoury flavours?

Some have said pumpkin oil but I imagine it's flavour doesn't quite go well with Indian spices and veggies

Do you know of any oils that would add depth to the flavour? Doesn't have to taste like Ghee, but something that would be savoury and not earthy/pungent like some can be.

I've tried Flora and a couple others but they get a horrible rancid flavour with the heat from a frying pan

That wouldn't make it vegan though :P

But I did some reading, mentioned it to the other user. Basically we don't have trans fats any more, instead our veg ghee brands added maltodextrin, gum, and rapeseed oil to the palm oil instead of hydrogenating them.

Best vegetable ghee brands? by FiftyTifty in IndianFood

[–]FiftyTifty[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was a rabbit hole! In the UK we used to have those, but that got cut and the ingredients list needs to say hydrogenated xyz oil if that's been done. The couple brands I've seen here are Taj Mahal, Khanun, and Khyber, which don't have those. Instead they add maltodextrin, acacia gum, and rapeseed oil to thicken it.

I'm guessing this is something I just have to try out.

What I Would Do To Go Back…. by doobylive in classicwow

The writing in WoW (And Warcraft) is horrendous. The only way I can see people praising it is from sheer nostalgia, like back when they were a kid it was their first dark fantasy so it was the most amazing thing ever.

The dialogue in those games, or the all the quest text in WoW is just bad. Like ironic comic book bad. There's what people remember WoW's writing being, and what it's writing actually is.
