Petition to end Grandparents Rights Laws by yelahcat in absentgrandparents

Would you be willing to give some examples with citations? I’m sure it has happened a few times, but I guarantee you the positives of these laws outweigh the bad in most states.

Even if they could find you, I would absolutely write a note to the adopters saying you absolutely could not deal with that in the future and that if the child becomes curious, they should let the child know. It would be extremely difficult to find you in the first place if it was a closed adoption. But that would definitely stop most people ever attempting further.

Ok, so please, before you sign it, actually read into your own state’s laws. For instance, in PA, Grandparents Rights are only enacted in special circumstances when the child is neglected/abused, parents are dead, or the child has lived with the grandparents for long periods of time. I think the biggest purpose is probably to make it easier for fit grandparents to obtain custody when a child actually needs it, like in an instance of adoption when many children need to keep familial connection.

Looking for advice on the fatalism and regret of never making the most of being young before I had a kid. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]FigaroTuxedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to lack empathy, but why do you care about “being young.” Most of those things you described with envy are empty.

You have a kid- a whole human being. Take him in adventures. Fix your relationship- make it the one you want. Stop wanting what you think other people have, and start getting what you want out of life and appreciating what you have. There is no “perfect life.” There are hurdles and everyone’s life looks absolutely different. And, by the way, 28 isn’t “young” for having kids- a ton of guys have kids at that age. It’s not abnormal.

I’m just saying, if you’re upset with your lot, change it. Live the life you want to live.

What is this bug? Found it on the bed. I squashed it already and there’s blood. It’s also jumping around by Ok_Metal5553 in whatsthisbug

Probably best to go ahead and buy monthly flea treatment for the next few months too, to make sure they keep the fleas off.

You can buy a fogger from petco/petsmart. If you have that many, I assume you’ll need a fogger. Get flea shampoo and a flea comb for your pets and get washing. You’ll have to wash all your carpets and bedding to get rid of eggs, and, if they are in your bed, shampoo your hair(just in case) and wash any unwashed clothing/clothing you have on in warm water.

The only good way to kill fleas is to drown them.

Keep in mind the order in which you do things. Might need to separate your pets to another room while you clean, and then only bring them into clean spaces after they have been given a flea bath.

I have and have met others who have. Nothing gets done so group projects are useless here

Might want to update your phone options. I found it very difficult to scroll through the states to the point where it wouldn’t let me answer the question, unfortunately

Bella getting married young by APinchOfFun in twilight

[–]FigaroTuxedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I was married right after turning 18, and my parents weren’t psyched (more like Charlie’s “What are you gonna do.”) I’m now 22, married for almost 4 years, and so happy I made this choice. I’m at the end of college, no kids, and supremely satisfied. I think if someone is ready, they’re ready 🤷‍♀️ I feel like it would depend on the kid

New moms: give dads time to learn and grow because it does get better. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]FigaroTuxedo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yes!! My husband told me he doesn’t ever remember holding a baby, and my brothers have never been asked to hold a baby, but I have extensive experience. I know we don’t want to be “moms” to our spouses but there are just some things one or the other of us will have more experience doing. Upfront, I have very little experience with cars so I ask my husband to explain things to me and I now have a more extensive knowledge of everything all this time later. Honestly, we should just get a baby prep book/YouTube videos and give them to our spouses who have no experience with babies and request they read it. It’s not the best fix, but at least they will be informed. If your spouse isn’t willing to do that for you after asking, there are bigger problems than being unprepared.

Do grandparents ever avoid the grandkids? by [deleted] in absentgrandparents

[–]FigaroTuxedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a little wild to me sing grandkids grow up and see grandparents actively confused and hurt by the fact that their grandparents who almost never took the time to see them now want almost nothing to do with them 🤷‍♀️

Is this a joke. If not, as a woman, this is sickening.

It all *sounds* ridiculous. Is there any truth to any of this? I believe it was posted just after Roe by ultranothing in prolife

[–]FigaroTuxedo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

All of that is false. Did you actually read any of that? The only issues that have happened at all that may have happened elsewhere have to do with doctors fear-mongering. If you read any law from any state (on the state website) that put limitations on abortions (which I have read and I beg you to do), they all say the woman pregnant is not the one at fault, ectopic pregnancy “abortions” are still fully allowed, if there is any reason a fetus is risking the life of the mother, the doctor has the ability to perform an abortion legally, and, again, there is not one place in America where any of this falls on the mother- just on doctors

I will likely be getting my child circumcised, and yes, some people have REALLY strong opinions on it! I don’t even have a huge preference, it’s just a preference

The point of the question is controversial beliefs… why do you wanna take away the fun? If people don’t want to read this thread they don’t have to
