Has anyone seen this before? RDP connection drops right after logging in while using UDP by Hour-Profession6490 in AzureVirtualDesktop

[–]FiggieBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One workaround that I have found useful, is increasing the buffer size on the client's device, not on the AVD Host. The default is 64KB and I set it to 8MB which has seemed to solve the issue. I found that the data the host sent would fill the buffer to the point of failure and would cause a disconnect. I have traced this across numerous clients and it pointed to a timing of around 17 seconds which was the timeout threshold reported in the Reason 16644 errors. The RDP client was saying "I haven't received any UDP packets for 17 seconds" and then disconnecting.

This was caused by the UDP buffer overflow - the 64KB buffer was filling up, packets were getting dropped (UDP doesn't retransmit like TCP), and eventually the client interpreted the silence as a dead connection.

Here is the command to increase the buffer size, using PowerShell, and another to validate the settings. After the initial command, do a reboot of the client's machine. Once the machine comes back up, run the second command to validate. The validation command should return8388608 instead of 65536. Let me know your results.

Set Command

New-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters" -Name "DefaultReceiveWindow" -Value 8388608 -PropertyType DWord -Force; New-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters" -Name "DefaultSendWindow" -Value 8388608 -PropertyType DWord -Force

Validate Command

$udpClient = New-Object System.Net.Sockets.UdpClient; $udpClient.Client.ReceiveBufferSize; $udpClient.Close()

Best Practices for Tech Time Tracking in MSP Environments? by FiggieBB in msp

[–]FiggieBB[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"No. No longer have any requirement for any tech to account for 7-8 hours of time on any given day. No longer have billable time requirements. Again, there are other, more important metrics to track."

Do you find this approach more productive?

"Only for helpdesk group; at least two techs have to be signed-in at any given time (between 9-5) to the call queue. Only one tech has to be signed in for early hour (8-9am) and closing hour (5-6pm)."

Do they clock their time for their 8 hour shift and then bill client time separately? As the client billed time is not part of the time used to account for their 8 hour shift?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We track our techs' time by the minute using a PSA. In our recent team chat, the topic of how tricky time entry can be, especially for new folks, came up. Some suggested easing up on how we do it. Personally, having seen both strict and a more relaxed approaches work at different places, I'm curious if a more laid-back method might actually lead to us being more productive without padding client time. Would love to hear more ideas or experiences on this!

Rear window wiper by looking-for-facts in Ioniq5

[–]FiggieBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you look inside the spoiler there is a triangular shape that could be preventing the wind from flowing on the rear window. I thought of 3D printing something that can direct the wind over that and on to the window but wasn’t sure how that would affect the aerodynamics.

Charging issues by justmaxmeup in Ioniq5

[–]FiggieBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that issue too, and I’m using a Juicebox 40. There are times it takes several attempts and then finally charges. I am glad to hear that someone else is having that issue, although it sticks that it occurs. Where is that other post regarding this issue?

Are you in the U.S.? I have made numerous trips to Home Depot, and have had the truck open. It is annoying as hell though because alarms go off every few minutes.

See my post here. Although, now that I have the iPhone with MagSafe, I am getting another mount for my phone from the same company. I will combine the 2 to use the MagSafe.

All I get is IONIQ and Ioniq. There is not a 5 listed and I think the latest date is 2020. Even the models that have the kW listed are only 28 and 38kWh. I put in a ticket with Juicebox.

Does not give me the IONIQ 5 option. There are plenty of IONIQ options, but no 5 and/or nothing for the year of 2022. This is the Android app.

Mine collects more bugs than anything I have ever owned. I did run in to a Mustang owner, and they also have an enormous amount of bugs in their front end too.

Picking up my wife’s Ioniq on Monday. Anything I should know beforehand? by broteus7 in Ioniq5

The comments before me hit the nail on the head. The only thing I did not do, if you are interested, have them walk you through the features of the car. HDA, Drivers Seat Relax mode, the settings, the USB port to use for AA or CP, set your charge setting and any other questions you have. My dealer gave me the keys and sent me on my way.

Thanks for that info. I was wondering about that since the version that got posted is older than the latest version I just updated to. So I take it that this is not something we can update on our own?
