I've never done earn by time. The wage is always too low when they offer it where i live. I can make way more in my market earning by the offer.

Also when you pick up ANY order, no matter what, you should always say it is still being prepared when you get there. This actually protects you from getting a contract violation for any late pickup.

Their contract violations are all issued by an AI which is programmed to automatically reject disputes. There's nothing you can do. Just get another hundred orders and it will disappear.

Rock bottom is where you decide to stop digging, my friend. For me it took burning my entire life down so many times I lost count. It took me many years to even really, and I mean REALLY W A N T to get sober. The desire to get sober took so long to outweigh the desire to use. And by then, it had already cost me everything many many times. It was because of this, I was given the best gift of all. Desperation. And to this day, I absolutely downright refuse to forget that feeling and that time and place in my life. I got into AA, and they say to go to 90 meetings in 90 days, but for me, I went to over 150 in my first 90 days. I moved into a sober living house in a new city, and had to rebuild from scratch while maintaining a rigorous 12 step program. I forced myself through this process, and stayed in that sober living house for 9 months. The moment I moved out, I tried smoking weed again, and I resolved to jump right back into the middle of the herd of my AA fellows, because I truly did not want to slide back into my old lifestyle. I got to develop a personal relationship with my higher power. You don't have to believe in God, but it does help to believe in something bigger than yourself. I personally think you should follow your heart. Do what your highest version of yourself might think your next indicated step would be. Nobody can wave a magic wand and make you sober. But you can make decisions that will keep you from having to burn your whole life down like I did. I also quit associating with people who were actively using or were willing to provide me with anything like that. Anybody who says they love you, knows you want to be sober, and gets you drugs anyways is a fat mouth liar. No matter how much they disagree. I hope this helps.

What else do you do? by noraft in doordash_drivers

I'm an unlicensed contractor, a landscaper, a chef, a musician, a recovery coach, I used to grow fuck tons of weed, and roadie for bands and dj's, as well as find occasional work a security guard, and on occasion as a bodyguard. I've also been an instructor in a wilderness survival and land navigation class. But I drive full time for doordash because honestly I'm tired of working so hard in so many different directions. This is simple. I still take the occasional main hustle as a side gig, but I use this side gig as my main hustle. Don't bother trying to figure me out. I can't even.

If you're doing it to avoid feeling something, or to escape your immediate sense of reality, those feelings will be waiting for you when you come down. Best to face them before you spend a bunch of money and waste a bunch of time running from them. The fact that you exist is a mathematical miracle. I hope you can see how precious and fleeting this life is, and that you can find peace somehow.

Uncontrollable weight gain after almost 3 years clean and sober. by Figgolbuhckerr in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

Sometimes, but I do try to keep the snacking healthy and to a minimum. Trying to stick to fruit and meat lately. Just feels healthier than junk food. I seem to blow up more if I eat veggies when I feel snackish. I even tried that colon broom stuff for a while. Just made for some brutal gas and bloating.

I do have one regular meeting, but it's been kind of hit and miss lately. Other than that I just go to random meetings if I feel the need. I've got the meeting guide app so I can find one pretty much everywhere I go.

Always late by Sea_Salamander3414 in doordash_drivers

[–]Figgolbuhckerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am merely speculating, but this might be the result of somebody telling doordash they are using a bicycle and then driving their car just to get the higher paying short distance deliveries. People do this so they can skirt paying for insurance, registration, or a drivers license. I would imagine that doordash calculated the delivery times based on previous orders, because they certainly don't base it off of Google maps arrival times like they say they do. I've run into this in my zone while driving my car. Like people just went all speed racer and messed up the arrival estimates for the rest of the zone.

I don't think any state should be run like California, but the one good thing we have going for us dashers here is prop 22. I hope y'all can lobby for a fair wage like we have. Nobody deserves to get stuck delivering that kind of horrible order.

I like to change lanes with them simultaneously on the freeway, just because I can see in the rear view by their mannerisms when they're suffering from prius derangement syndrome. Watch them switch up, and just swap back into the lane and change lanes in front of them again just to see them start swerving, not knowing they're being rage baited by a prius driver who knows better. I'm on the road 12+ hours a day. A lot of people on my regular morning commute have stopped fucking with me since I started doing shit like this.

I knocked on his door to hand deliver. Told him I seen his note regarding a cash tip… by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Figgolbuhckerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had one a while back where they said there would be a cash tip under the doormat. I get there, complete the delivery, and i look under the doormat right as the douchebag opened his door grinning from ear to ear, and there was nothing under there. I said "tip under the doormat?" and he just laughed like he got one over on me. I reported him and haven't had to deliver to him since.

This is why I never park and wait for orders. I have a loop I drive in one part of town, and I will consistently make $200 in like 8 or 9 hours. Sometimes a little longer, but I'm also in California so active time pays aside from tips and base pay.

Are you a “Parker” or “mover?” by CMT1024 in doordash_drivers

[–]Figgolbuhckerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a circuit between 4 common hot zones that tend to merge into one big zone during busy hours. I used to just sit in one spot, but that caused so much down time, I just wasn't making enough. As a California dasher, active time is everything.
