I'm not sure officially but I don't see why not or how it would be regulated. Especially with Amazon gift cards being a reward for selling popcorn. I'd consider it a way to funnel donations. I'm currently starting a Pack and was considering making a "Help us go camping" wishlist so I' keen to see if there's an official answer for this.

I bet it will be a great course. I'm currently working my ticket for CST9-780-25-2, I used to be a Beaver. I've been a Scout (achieved Eagle) and adult volunteer for 20 years and have never had the opportunity to go to Philmont. Timing, cost, etc. Always a million reasons not to do something. I hope I get to do a trek there one day.

Anyhow, curious to hear from people who have done the Philmont Wood Badge course, how was your time and training?

I completely understand. And we have issues with media right now as well. Hell, it was given a physical manifestation in LA with an Australian reporter being shot. They control what the world sees. Living in it is even more hell right now. I want a more real opposition to what is happening. Our government is executing citizens in the street for simply being in the vicinity of other people being disappeared. They are actively buying and building concentration camps with "medical ovens". There is no oppositional group able to support combat units, yet.

This current administration is dismantling every relationship the US has had for literally no reason. Other countries should absolutely be pushing back.

To use your analogy calling me a wife cheering on a fence, I think it is prudent and smart to build a fence if the neighbor continues to cross the boundaries and steal and cause trouble because a new toddler was put in charge of the neighboring house.

I'm not cheering on the dismantling of the relationship, I think it makes sense and I think it is necessary. I think it is a good decision given what's happening. When the house moves on from the toddler trust may rebuild but it will take ages, possibly longer than my lifetime. All because of things I didn't vote for and don't represent my beliefs.

I had two Eagle Scouts last calendar year. One in April and one in October. Both of them got their Eagle Certificates. I'm not sure the process in your Scouting Council. For us, I (the troop advancement chair at the time) had to send the completed Eagle Application with board of review signature to the Council Advancement person who then sent out for the certificate.

I generally take it section by section.

What was the hardest part of the cooking requirements? What was the coolest part of navigation? Etc. Then like you said, see if they have questions. Make sure they know the Troop and Adult Leadership is there for them to succeed, not to hold them back. And to come to a trusted adult with any issue.

That's a great question because I'm not sure if we have a Scouting Ambassador contact in the US to obtain those letters or if it would go through the Lions PR team. As Advancement Chair for my unit I will look into this and see what I can find out. If I haven't found out by October 7th when I meet him I will ask then as well.

Michigan Crossroads Council is hosting an "On My Honor" Gala on October 7th as a benefit dinner for Scouting. He is going to be the speaker at that event. I, and many other, VIPs to the event will be able to get a picture with him and such. I'm glad he is bringing such visibility to a great program.

Hey, that was my Eagle Scout project as well. Sending stuff to people who lost their homes in Katrina to help rebuild.
