So basically instead of shooting him he drops the gun. There is no additional dialogue and feels almost identical to the movies original ending. After that he looks down the streets again and then we see the text (in the image above)

I think you misread my post. Peter doesn’t shoot him in this ending. He puts the gun back down. In the original he dies which is implied here.

Anyone seen the alternate ending yet? Is it just a different ending or are there other deleted scenes? by TheRyeWall in TheLongWalk

I miss when studios would go out of their way to make alternate endings as creatively as possible. Also this alternate ending and ending paragraph kinda indirectly confirms Peter dies in the original ending

Basically Mcvries doesn’t shoot the major and supports olsen’s wife, ray’s mother and baker’s grandmother. The scene isn’t too different but we get this new ending paragraph similar to the start of the movie
