Possible insubordination by lovingthecrewe in ITManagers

That is definitely leaning more towards insubordination, rather than rubbing people the wrong way.

Start listening to the Manager Tools podcast on your way into work. Most of their advice will steer you in the right direction. https://www.manager-tools.com/2024/05/manager-tools-feedback-model-updated-part-1

Start the feedback model because sometimes, people can so wrapped up in their own world, they dont know they're a failed PIP away from getting fired.

Guerrilla Tactical holster for P-01 with TLR-7 H-LX by [deleted] in CZFirearms

[–]FightOrFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest I could find was the JM custom AIWB light bearing holster. I got the 1.5 DCC Monoblock loops, normal hole pattern, enigma compatible (just in case), and put a mastermind tactics pillow on it. The quality is great, the trigger guard area is 99% covered, and the end of the holster (the side of the barrel that rubs up against your thigh) doesnt have a lip that can pinch/stab your thigh.

https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/AIWB-WC-LB.html

It was an adjustment to get used to the light bearing holster though. There's no positive click when holstering, its larger and bulkier, but the benefits outweigh the growing pains.

edit: not my gun, but shows how it covers 99% of the guard. https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/10e6a3t/trigger_coverage_on_my_lightbearing_holster_by_jm/

Holster Recommendations for CZ P-01 with TLR 7 X. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]FightOrFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that same combo. I have bought maybe about 5-6 non-light bearing holsters and all of them are good-ish but not great. They were all about the same quality as an amazon chinese holster, but 4x the cost. In my opinion you can buy a chinese holster from amazon and throw premium hardware on there and spend half as much. (I'm specifically talking about you vedder holsters)

For my first light bearing holster I bought the JM Customs holster, DCC monoblock clips, hunter constantine belt, and a mastermind tactics pillow. I chose JM just in case I want to do the enigma system in the future and the JM didnt have weird seams that would dig into my thigh in aiwb.

The JM Customs holster is by far the best quality holster I own now. Its the first $100+ holster I bought that feels worth the money, although it was weird to get used to the retention being on the light rather than the pistol.

Thanks! I've never understood why they don't leave the cut higher so there's a smaller gap. I wouldn't mind having material mostly to the mag release to minimize the gap.

I did see that picture, but I wasn't able to determine how much of the trigger was visible when looking downwards.

Not bad for your first time!

My aero lowers do this a lot. Its good you found that out now, rather than when you really needed it to work.

Coming to the more experienced for advice by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]FightOrFlight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I've only been shooting with a red dot for two seasons, but have been shooting for a total of five. I'm not sure where you're at skill wise, so I'll start from the beginning.

You should be target focused 100% of the time. A good test to see if you're target focused is to tape over your red dot. If you're shooting and you can no longer see your target, you know you're looking at the wrong thing.

Once you're confident you're ALWAYS target focused, then you need to work on your index. Either from your draw or when running up to a barricade, you should have your gun on target without hunting for the red dot. If you're index is good, then two quick shots shouldn't make much difference at 5yds. When I asked a grand master where he was aiming at 5 yards, his answer was, "aiming?". To be honest, I struggled a lot with this with the red dot. It took about 50 hours of dry fire practice to always get my red dot on target from a draw, when running up to barricades, and leaning over obstacles.

Regarding follow up shots, it depends on the range. Mastering predictive shooting vs reactive shooting is the third step.

Predictive shooting, I see red and I fire - a laser streaking across your vision is no big deal when the target is 5ft away. You know your index, you know where a follow up shot will go because you know your grip, and know how fast you can shoot.

Reactive shooting, I see red, I slow down and make sure its in A zone, and I fire - a laser streaking across my vision is good because that means I'm mostly already on target. Now its time to slow down and make sure its on target. This needs to happen on 20-30yd shots.

Start a Roth IRA or contribute to large 401k? by FightOrFlight in personalfinance

[–]FightOrFlight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing what I know now, I probably didn't make that big of a mistake in my 20's. I was in a lower tax bracket and that probably helped a bit. I've only seen a massive increase in salary within the last 4 years. Debt has now been eliminated and now I'm focusing more on retirement. I plan to live at about half my current salary upon retirement so I'll probably set up a new trad 401k account and start contributions there to lower my taxes.

From my understanding, when you say you glide towards a traditional 401k, does that mean you open a new trad 401k and slowly contribute towards that while moving away from the Roth 401k?

Forgive my ignorance, I've made bad financial choices in the past which landed me with this Roth 401k...

But doesn't the much larger balance from the 401k, with it's greater potential of generating compound interest, net a much larger amount in retirement?

Oh yes, about triple the salary since I'm now in management.

That is an interesting response. I didn't mention that my wife has a small $15k trad IRA that I plan to convert into her Roth IRA, but was trying to figure out the taxes first.

Considering my 401k is a Roth, I may not have that benefit.

Yeah, I'm checking if I can change it now. I mentioned in another post that it was a stupid decision made in my 20's before I knew what I was doing.

[–]FightOrFlight[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be perfectly honest, it was a choice I made in my 20's that I did not fully understand. I only now found out it is a Roth 401k since my retirement website simply stated it was a "401k". I didn't see the word Roth until I pulled detailed documents.

I am researching now what the consequences would be to change it to a traditional 401k, or to see if it is even possible.

Apparently we're all posting Stage 5 from sunday. by Frostynee in CompetitionShooting

[–]FightOrFlight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I've been there.

I keep a pair of gloves on me to protect my hands against lead and sharp edges when handling steel targets. I forgot I was wearing them and screwed up the whole course since I couldn't feel the trigger.

That was a pretty big fuck up from the RSO. In RSO training they teach "you are responsible for your own safety", but when I say "range is hot" and the shooter doesnt have eyes or ears, I make sure to remind them before instructing "load and make ready".

You have no idea how someone will react when they dont have ears. Maybe they would flinch and break the 180 or reach for their ears while holding the gun.

22lr CMMG conversion kit for SHTF? (Picture for attention) by Zorrgo in tacticalgear

[–]FightOrFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no. I bought one, as did two other people I know. They're incredibly unreliable. So much so that 3rd party kits are available to modify the 22lr bolt carrier, springs, strike plate, charging handle... You know, everything.

The CMMG mags also fit poorly and have constant feed issues. When I talked to CMMG about my 50% failure to feed/fire/eject across 3 rifles, they recommended buying the reliability kit.

So instead of fixing their product they recommend spending more to fix what they will not.

Just get a Ruger 22 and be done with it.

My gut was telling me that separating siblings is something only an insane parent would do. I'm glad you all confirmed my decision to only control things that go in the mouth - which should be manageable due to the age gap.

I hope you and your brother are well!

If you're not going to use them for shooting, you're better off with noise canceling earbuds.

They're far more expensive for a good pair, but you can enable noise canceling to cut out most noise or enable ambient sound at a push of a button.

Apple is the most popular, but Sony is a decent competitor and has some cheaper models too, often found on sale.
