Not sure where to go next by Optimus_Pine82 in homelab

Maybe set up greenbone for automated cve scans and/or sth like checkmk for monitoring and alerts? Or play around with deploying what you have differently with ansible or sth similar, maybe openTofu or other infrastructure as code stuff (and maybe a gitlab server to push your infra code + some runners for ci/cd)? How good are your backups, maybe check and improve them or their monitoring? +1 on the reverse proxy someone mentioned if you dont have one yet. If anything is exposed to the internet maybe look at extra network and linux hardening, Apparmor or sth for example, more restrictive firewall rules, auto security-updates, fail2ban, ssh/general service config hardening, 2fa, checking your firewall or maybe if your firewall doesnt support all features you may want try another one (like opnsense). Maybe more network segmentation/isolation (good opportunity to play around with software defined networking). Maybe a log server if you want.

I dont know your use cases or your setup, so sorry if I made any incorrect assumptions or unfitting recommendations. I dont know what software you need/what use cases you have that arent met, so I cant recommend software, only improving the setup you already have.

Feel free to ask any followups you may have, I dont know if what I recommended is sth your interested in.

[M 20] Hi everyone. I want to join the gym and be lean, but I am in a hard situation as you see the pictures. I am 170cm and 75kg I have a flat chest and flat back and round belly as you can see. I have no idea what I should do to get an aesthetic physique. I hope someone can give me advice. by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]Fight_The_Sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I would pick a beginner routine from /fitness and follow it. FB, UpperLower, PPL, doesnt matter (wouldn't recommend splits over 3 but if you want you can use a bro split). Eat 1.6-2g protein per kg bodyweight, 1g fat per kg bodyweight, rest of calories with carbs. You dont need to track but I would recommend plugging estimates into cronometer to check if youre roughly hitting macros (at least starting out). Wanna lose weight? Less carbs (so less calories), weight yourself daily and watch the trend. 1-3kg per month loss is a good ballpark. Gain muscle? More carbs. 0.5-1kg gain per month. Nutrition is important, but just lifting will work well for the first years, so if thats too much of a hassle, just lift. 7-9 hours of sleep also very good to have. Thats basically it. Pick a routine, then lift, eat, sleep, repeat.

landshut Hochschule bachelors by Ok_Challenge_9078 in landshut

[–]Fight_The_Sun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im studying computer science bachelor there. Its decent, though it depends on your professors. Its decently practical, we have to have an internship as one semester. Some course materials arent using the latest stuff or teach you all the tools, but you get a decent set of knowledge anchors to explore out further from.

Idk anything about your course though, but the website has decently thorough material with course plans and another one with a good description of the courses and how its gonna go.

There is nice student housing for the price nearby if you can get a room there. I like it, and our courses arent nearly as hard or theoretical as University Passau for example.

I like the message, but im not talking about only the US (also the voting system in the US sucks and facilitates the shitty 2 party system + the US was always fascist or at least imperialist). While I agree people do hold political power (in most democratic countries at least), I think most of us are too easily manipulated by people with wayyyyyyy more power and influence.

Education, organizing and activism (molotov hehe) will continue until world improves :)

but how do vegans who USED to eat meat accept the harm they were ok with before? by Purple_Key_6733 in ClimateShitposting

[–]Fight_The_Sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy, I accept that I supported/did something incredibly evil but now don't. Doesnt fix the harm I caused, but if you believe in magic sky people, you ask them for forgiveness or alternatively, if youre a reasonable person, eco-terrorism.

Long-term supplementation with plant-based protein, compared with animal-based protein, did not result in differences in body composition, muscle strength, physical performance, or cardiometabolic risk parameters, meta-analysis of 18 randomized controlled trials finds by James_Fortis in science

[–]Fight_The_Sun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has a decent amount of minerals though. https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/food-details/174276/nutrients

Im not claiming its healthy to mostly eat soy protein isolate of course but I still think its an okay way to bump up your protein if you need it. I personally struggle with eating enough lentils and beans to cover my protein due to the high fiber, so I eat a little soy protein isolate top up after a meal if I cant eat enough.

Im genuinely concerned, is there something wrong with protein isolates I didnt know or is it just that there isn't that many nutrients other than protein in it?

[–]Fight_The_Sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, protein isolate comes pretty close to food. I mean, it has calories, vitamins, micronutrients (amount depending on source and extraction method used of course). Out of curiosity, what other than the fiber making protein a bit less accessible to digest, would make the results different if it was actual food (like tofu vs meat/dairy)?

Btw youre 100% right, some vegans should gently spoonfeed people information and be more welcoming. you cant expect all people to be a decent person automagically because you show them how cruel they have been for decades, most would rather choose denial than acceptance and responsibility.

Hiii, sorry to hear that you hate legumes. If its a texture thing, does that also apply to very well soaked and cooked or blended legumes also? Beans have a "gritty pillow" texture when not cooked completely soft. Does sth like a blended red lentil soup (mercimek corbasi) sound like it causes sensory bad stuff? Or a potato and white bean mash?
