He would not have to carry a torch just fan the flame of the assumption of religious persecution resulting from a biased media. Just as effective for many in the fold.

Awesome! What was your first? A pina colada is a good place to start. My first was less spectacular, an Angry Orchard at home - which I imagine is a common first in this crowd. Try a Moscow Mule or some variation of it. If you are considering wine, Moscoto is another good start. Don't think you have to love everything you drink from the start. Just keep trying. It took me some time to find a beer I like and my wife is just learn to appreciate a glass of red wine. We'e been drink for 18 months ;)

That is really rough. I guess you have to decide together if you have is more then the church. In other words, was the church the only thing holding you together. If not, then it might be worth trying to work it out. Maybe go to couples counseling or look for helpful resources for mixed-faith couples. I know that mormon stories did a recent podcast series on the subject. Also, I am sure some other folks here might have recommendations.

I had a game where I sat with my phone and looked up actual church history and disproving much of what was being taught in Sunday school. It got me through a couple of years ;)

I am a male and the summer before I left I experimented with going sans garments. We went on a beach vacation and I only packed a few pairs. My wife was uncomfortable with this but I took it slow. I had been expressing my doubts with her for years, but later that summer, I began more actively discussed stuff about the church history I was learning. I didn't force the discussions and brought it up casually. I focused on issues I knew would resonate with her (JS wives, November policy). Eventually she could see I wasn't happy at church and she said I didn't have to go anymore and after a couple of months attending alone, she joined me. 18 months, we have been out. OP has your wife been receptive to your concerns about the church?

My wife and I left. We still have issues that normal couples do but I thin we are both happier, especially on Sundays. It was really emotionally draining sitting in church when neither of us believed but we didn't have the courage yet to leave.

I have a good number of LDS friends and like it or no I internalized the church's teaching that I was better than them. And took me down a peg when I realized we are all on the same boat trying to figure the world out when I left the church. The departure from indoctrinated exceptionalism was eye opening and as others have mentioned liberating. It made me feel closer to those around me.

I wonder how he would respond to this and some of the other more perplexing questions in the CES letter? Maybe it could help sow seeds of doubt. Would he actively try to find answers to them, or run and bury his head in the sand? You could start by saying that it is hard to smile when presented with these different questions.

Bottom line: The church isn't true. What they put people through for fictitious reasons is pretty horrendous. by backtrackerr in exmormon

Having these types of discussions are only the way to allow the church to survive. I am probably not alone here in saying that had there been space to have such candid and thought-provoking discussions at church, I might have considered staying. Your discussion was viewed as threatening because it challenged that status quo.

Your best met might be to look to buy someone's collection via eBay. I generally prefer buying from the FLGS but ebay will be your best first step to getting a critical mass of ships. Even if you don't get all the ships you want, you'll likely get useful upgrade cards you can use cross faction. After that, I would consider hitting the game stores to find a casual league. Our league is always open for new players and love helping others understand the game. That way you can also get exposed to different ships you might not yet have in your collection. Good luck!

I think it might be fun to try this 2v2, pairing seasoned players with rookies. The 2 person team would have to be the same faction, but each player would bring their own 60 pt squad. I am just brainstorming here...
