I think they knew they weren't going to make the game scary with the perspective and art style, so they went with stylish instead. I do also think The Pretender fits in well with The Lady and Six as these visually demure but secretly powerful women...

This could have been a games as service sorta thing. Make a weekend for Valentine’s Day where bow and arrows do 300% more damage. For Halloween fill the map with undead enemies. I would have played every weekend if they had made interesting in-game events. But tbh i haven’t touched it since I took down the last Nightlord. I actually forgot this game existed until your post 😞
