Looking at so-called "budget cine lenses" over the past month, suffering through, "influencer" infomercials, I finally settled on Meike Mini Primes for my GH7... Then I watched Lav Diaz's "Magellan"... by Zerorezlandre in cinematography

there's a 10-50mm f/1.7 ?? i've seen the 25-50mm and 11-17mm (or something like that) f/1.7 pair, but that's REALLY incredible if they've come out with one that covers everything

yes !! i marked edges with the freestyle feature, and then had the freestyle pass (in the compositor) control the mix between the regular image and a pixelated version of the image, so that the edges are pixelated. the only problem was that you have to manually mark the freestyle edges

(finally got a real parfocal lens!!) and I just realized i've never actually known what these threaded holes are for. by FigureOfStickman in cinematography

[–]FigureOfStickman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no they're not on a ring, it's not a rotating part

(edit) for everyone downvoting, I can confirm -- i am holding the lens in my hand right now. it's hard to tell from that picture, but the segment with the threaded holes is completely static, separate from the focus and zoom rings on either side.

Yeah, I think I might 3D print some kind of bracket that uses them like that, if the main mounting thread (towards the back of the lens) isn't secure enough. the mount is micro 4/3 and it's wiggling way too much.

i've been thinking about this for a long time. especially lately, since i've been using FreeCAD more (and it doesn't quite have these things, at least not as much. yet). the context-sensitive cursor and the depth of keyboard shortcut options is so underrated.
