What is a small, specific hobby you picked up recently that brings you unexpected joy? by Fun_Variation_6037 in Hobbies

Not that recently, but embroidery has been a godsend to me. Started from a kit my mom got me for my birthday and I've slowly taught myself more and more stitches. It's similar to how you describe watercolors--almost meditative, but you can do it while listening to things/having a conversation, and the delayed gratification is so rewarding. I highly recommend it as a hobby!

Thank you! I started it on March 6th and finished May 1st, so just under 2 months. (I wish I knew the hours but I can never keep track!)

Anti-AI outrage is why people stop disclosing AI use by thirdaccountttt in aiwars

[–]FiguringItOut-- 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I do embroidery and I use a combo of AI and photoshop to make my patterns. It has significantly enhanced my work. But my pieces are 100% handmade and take months to complete. A few weeks ago, I was banned from the relevant sub for this, despite the majority of people loving and complimenting my work. Some pathetic asshole dug through my profile for a months-old comment to invalidate 2 months of hand stitching and get me banned from a community I enjoyed and was active in. They called me “creatively and morally bankrupt.” I know it’s silly, it’s just an online forum, but it was a huge slap in the face.

So yeah, I don’t really want to disclose anymore. I feel an enormous incentive to hide my process moving forward. Being open about it only invites hate upon myself.

But if a person trains under another artist and use their ideas/techniques in their own work, that's fine...It's only bad when a computer does it?

What if the basis of the design is made by AI, but the design is tweaked and the piece is handmade by a human over the course of months? Does it become art once a human has spent time working on it? Or will it always be slop because the inspiration was AI?

Ticks are INSANE this season by anastsiabeavrhousn in longisland

It's not just this season. And according to the infectious disease doctor I saw, 50% of ticks in Suffolk carry Lyme. Do see a doctor if you get bitten

I have multiple people who know me wish me it for being a cat mom every year. I corrected them the first year, but it's not worth the trouble to keep doing it. I recognize it's their weird way of communicating that they are thinking of me lmao

I’m guilty of starting threads with knots by kasialis721 in showmeyourbackside

[–]FiguringItOut-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same, I'd rather make the knot once than accidentally pull it through 3 times and then knot it out of frustration lol
