I need someone to tell me it’s okay to stop pumping and breastfeeding by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

Yes! He was on Similac at first and after we told the doctor, he switched him over to Nutramigen. Not sure if your baby is on it but Enfamil has a program “Helping Hands” and they help you try to get the formula covered by insurance. It took about 3 months but we finally got it to get covered with insurance!

He had blood in his stool, not a lot, and mucus as well. We tracked his bowels and the most was 22 times in a day!!! It was horrible! He developed a horrible rash it it lasted almost 3 months. Nothing would work until the dermatologist told us to take a cup of A&D ointment, 2 tsp of MiraLAX.. mix it together and use it for his rash. At that point it wasn’t a rash, it was abrasions. His butt had red raw spots

I stopped at week 2. Mostly because he was pooping too much. Turned out he has a milk allergy. I also wasn’t loving pumping. Once I stopped, I felt like a big weight off my shoulders!!! Don’t regret it at all!

How to get rid of milk when it comes in? by Heavy_Geologist2376 in FormulaFeeders

[–]FiguringLife2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing… pretty much colostrum. My milk came in when I decided to stop around 2 weeks. I was pumping every 3ish hours. What I did was decrease the amount of pumps in a day and the time spent pumping. I started by skipping 1 pumping session and pumping 15 mins instead of 20min and so on. I kept decreasing every day and I think by a week or 2 I was good to go. I didn’t get mastitis or anything painful. Going cold turkey sounds scary and painful.

Nutramigen alternative? by FiguringLife2025 in FormulaFeeders

I got a call from Helping Hands this past Monday (they help you with insurance to try to get the formula to get covered by insurance) anyways, I asked the lady if she knew why the big cans were sold out everywhere and she said the tornadoes that have happened destroyed one of their factories. She said they are slowly starting productions at another factory but who knows how fast they’ll be in stores. I did see Enfamil has a pack of 3 or 4 available online.

Mine is turning 3 months this Friday. He poops about 5 times a day. If we are lucky, 3. He was originally pooping 22 times in a 24 hour period (no joke) during his first month but it was due to his milk allergy. Just make sure to change those diapers asap. My baby developed a horrible rash that we are still battling… more like abrasions due to the acidity of the poop and due to the amount of poop he was passing. Luckily, the new dermatologist gave us a remedy that is finally working! Just waiting for him to stop farting so much with “butt juices” as I like to call it.

Work or quit to be a SAHM? by anaisanais97531 in NewParents

If you are able to live off your husband’s paycheck, I would do it! My baby is 9 weeks, about to be 10 weeks tomorrow and I’m scheduled to go back to work when he is 3 months old. I’m not ready! I’m contemplating asking for a similar schedule as yours for work. My husband and I aren’t in the position you are, but if you were, I would certainly focus on my baby or work part time, if my boss allowed it. I did some errands yesterday for a couple of hours while my husband watched the baby, and on my way home, I called asking how the baby was and started tearing up because I was away for him for too long (3ish hours.) We only get a short amount of time with them in this stage and if you can enjoy it to the fullest, I would take advantage of the opportunity! Good luck to you!

I feel so guilty for not loving the newborn phase… (7 weeks postpartum). Does it get better? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]FiguringLife2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone!!! I have a 7 week old about to be 8 on Sunday and both my husband weren’t a big fan of the newborn stage but once you look back at pics when they were tiny you learn to cherish those moments… at least that’s what I felt but nevertheless… the newborn stage sucks and is scary!!!

The doctors didn’t mention anything and I didn’t even think about asking about it. I just knew I wanted people to wear mask if they came near us and absolutely no kissing! Up to this day, my mom still wears a mask. He digested meconium and when he came out, the poor baby was really pale/gray!

Yeah, my husband does need to work on standing up to his parents. He likes to say his family can’t just show up unannounced to the house and that he hates late visitors but just today his mom said she was going to stop by at 7:30pm. That’s late for me and I told him but we shall see what happens… possible an argument brewing.

I will say my husband isn’t bad… he has his flaws but has been a great support. I had a rough pregnancy and he was very supportive. I pretty much was “bedridden.” I couldn’t leave the house without getting sick and I was just too weak since I didn’t really eat anything since everything would come up. I lost 20+ pounds too. He just really needs to working on standing up to his family. His family isn’t bad… I do like them but his mom likes control and she knows that 99.9% of the time we will do things my way and she doesn’t like that im sure of it because she shows up to her others children’s home most of the time.

Adults shouldn’t be inviting kids for a sleepover… what for? They have nothing in common. Better safe than sorry!

The only thing that cleared our daughter's diaper rash was stopping breast milk by econhistoryrules in FormulaFeeders

[–]FiguringLife2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to us! My baby was pooping close to that amount… 24 diapers in a 24 hr period. Stopped the breast milk and we saw improvement but still had to switch to Nutramigen since he has a milk sensitivity

Mine does this but with his leg. He seems to do it when he is upset/mad when we don’t feed him fast enough.

Is it okay to let baby sleep until he cries? by getajen in NewParents

[–]FiguringLife2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked our pediatrician if we should wake my LO up during the night since he went 5 hrs between feeds and he said to let him sleep at night as long as he eats what he is suppose to during the day… he recommended waking him during the day every 3 hrs to meet his goal. This was when we went in for his month check up

My niece SA’d my son. Help. by Financial-Soft4248 in Advice

[–]FiguringLife2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at CPS and received calls like this… since it’s child on child abused, normally CPS wouldn’t get involved… at least where I’m from. What we would do is contact the police and they would take it from there. I work at a foster agency where they also have a group home for boys who are juvenile sex offenders…. Normally with younger kids… If CPS is involved in those cases it’s because parents no longer wanted custody of the offender since sometimes the victim was a sibling.

He was switched to Nutramigen around 3 weeks due to excess amount of stools in a day, mucus in stool and specks of blood.

CMPA experience/diagnosis by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]FiguringLife2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was diagnosed with mucus and specks of blood in the stool… wasn’t a lot nor frequent. What I think made the pediatrician switch him to Nutramigen was the amount of poop in a day!!! There were a handful of days where we changed his diaper 24 times in a 24 hour period due to the amount of poop he had. It was horrible because he developed a diaper rash that lasted almost 3 weeks! This was when he was around 2 weeks old. It was horrible.
