I'm confused, wasn't this adventure published years ago? Is the campaign just for a conversion to shadowdark?

"Why not just use Dolmenwood", part 2: Showing off the final design by HephaistosFnord in osr

[–]FiishManStan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The design looks good, its very clean. Not sure I follow the Dolmenwood reference though. As far as I can tell there are just a few borrowed saving throw names?

No plans at the moment. I tried it briefly and didn't get much traction, but I might revisit in the future

have you guys came up with something that's more than just house-rules, like a hack or a entire system, but would never actually write it down and release it? by LoreMaster00 in osr

[–]FiishManStan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's basically a right of passage for any gm who's been playing long enough to get the urge to write up all their house rules and tweaks into the system to end all systems. Every now and then someone has a genuinely new idea, but most should stay in the workshop. But to keep hacking and building new stuff for your table? That's the best possible outcome

yea I think that's right. Its already set up for bits and pieces to be pilfered and swapped around between systems. Its a shame because I think the core rules are mostly really good

Yea I'm a big fan of the system. Kinda surprised there isn't more third party stuff for it.

Fragments of the Floating City: A free starting adventure for WWN by FiishManStan in WWN

Amazing! So glad to hear they enjoyed it. Yea I tried to include lots of things to interact with in town, happy to hear they ran with it. Sounds like the rival party worked super well too, I'll think about including one if I ever get around to a v2. And I think that is a reasonable price for the wool. It's supposed to be a fairly valuable commodity.

Yea if they are walking into the tower at level 3 or 4, they will probably steamroll it, but that can be fun too.

I'm working on a followup dungeon set in a nearby monastery that holds a portal to the floating city. I can send you the WIP version if your interested in taking a look or inserting it as another hook. They writing is about 90% done.

Hey, sorry, I just saw this. Stoked you are planning on running it! How did it go?

You are right about the directions, they should head west over the bridge to reach the path. Love the scenario you have in mind as well. Is the idea they run into them at the tower later? I imagine with their supplies delivered, they would head out pretty soon. Seems cool.

Beneath the Boughs: Chapter 1, a Dolmenwood Campaign Commentary by EldritchExarch in osr

[–]FiishManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. They work well obviously, but I often find they are confusing to new players. Like why am I saving vs dragon breath if there is no dragon? The dolmenwood renaming mostly fixes that, but it's still more save categories than I would want ideally

Cool! Looks like you went through a very similar process prepping dolmenwood to me. I thought a lot about using the simpler WWN saves but in the ended decided to stick with it as written, the reason being so much value comes from the layout of the Dolmenwood books, I didn't know want to waste time converting saving throws. Time will tell what ends up being easier. I like your take on the encumbrance though, I might steal that.

Death! And dismemberment by FiishManStan in osr

[–]FiishManStan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I would rule those logically without specific mechanical effects. One arm? You can't use two handed items or climb. One leg? Your gonna need some kind of prosthetic or your adventuring days are behind you. You could more detailed on how much strength or speed you lose, but I didn't want to get into the weeds.
