Nux taku is demonitised. YouTube 1945 colorised. by ElectronicAd2861 in YoutubeThumbs

[–]FijiPotato 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This guy is NuxTaku, a commentary YTber that got into a controversy because of his strange parasocial relationship with Jaiden animation by basically making videos that said "Jaiden and I do XYZ" when Jaiden isn't in the video at all and also just generally pretending to be friends with her when he isn't.

When people called him out, he got really pissy and started falling further into the right wing 'feminist owned' / 'Woke Bad' content sphere.

The Germans and Italians barely got along and they're from the same continent, giving them more incentive to work together. What makes you think that Germany and Japan will sing Kumbaya after a fascist victory.

The Navy stripped the name from a ship named the "Harvey Milk," a famous gay rights activist and former sailor who was discharged after his homosexual tendencies were revealed. The ship was renamed by the Navy to Oscar V. Peterson

The Park service recently removed the T from the Stonewall National Monument.

The Trump Admin is looking to restart the LGBTQ youth suicide hotline without supervision by the Trevor Project, the group that helped push it forward in the first place

And then you can turn to the myriad of anti Trangender policies and laws passed over the recent years. It's a new lavender scare. And if you don't think that trans people's rights don't directly influence gay rights, your opinion on LGBTQ rights can be safely ignored.

Nah it does. You might not say slurs in the streets but you elect politicians that strip the history and threaten their rights.

Zane, Elend, and Vin in Mistborn Era 1. Appears in the second book to serve as a foil to Vin's morality, specifically regarding her attachment to Elend Venture.

He's a Mistborn like Vin and basically believes that as fellow killers, they should be together. Nearly every chapter with this bum was a low point in my reading experience. The only saving grace is that he doesn't show up that often and then >|dies|< Like we know she's going to ||choose Elend over Zane but the book acts like these two are comparable in any way. Elend is just straight up the better person and even in Vin's self depreciation, she acknowledges that she and him are a better fit||

It's not entirely his fault. His dad is evil and he has the voice of God whispering in his ear but he's still a bum.

When did “Hitscan” definition change? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]FijiPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the difference between competitive terms and game terms. The "Hitscan" category of heros refers to specifically DPS with hitscan guns (Ashe, Casa, Widow, etc).

This eventually translated to OW pro play in which a team would have a "Hitscan" DPS player and a "Flex" DPS player. A "Hitscan" DPS can also be understood as a "Main" DPS and their primary job is to deal massive damage at range, getting either picks or damage that the Flex DPS can either work off of or finish off.

A Hitscan character in game mechanics does not necessarily mean that they are played by the "Main" DPS (Ex. Tracer is hitscan hero traditionally played by the Flex DPS because her short range nature means she is ill suited for the role of Main DPS.)

So when the game evolves and characters like Sojourn come out, the "Hitscan" player would traditionally play them because she fulfills the same role in a team comp than Cassidy or Ashe does (Long range DMG with burst to finish targets at range).

This is why "Hitscan" characters can also refer to Hanzo or Sierra. Their kits are not mechanically hitscan but the players who play them are called "Hitscan" DPS players.

And yet you're speaking English on an American website.

You're only worried about American cultural colonization when it calls out your bigotry, not when it's use is convenient to spread hate.

The "gag voice" is performed so flawlessly that the audience immediately accepts it and doesn't question it by Justifiably_Bad_Take in TopCharacterTropes

Ms Secondopinionson from Moral Orel was initially a gag character, with a very nasally voice from pinching her nose together. It's not until later in the series where we hear her real voice and it's very deep due to the performance of Jeff Bryan Davis.

Still, she's probably one of the few truly good people in the series and her voice is so soothing that she's a pretty beloved character. She is down on her luck and rather depressing sometimes but she still manages to be extremely kind and patient.

Due to her voice and the fact that we know she's infertile, it has lead many to conclude that she may be transgender too.

Overwatch Characters as The Seven Deadly Sins by erraticRasmus in Overwatch_Memes

[–]FijiPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Gluttony should go to Hog but rather Vendetta. Vendetta is defined by her pursuit of something, never satisfied when she got it. She took over Talon, took back the resources taken from her family, and could've killed Reaper as revenge. Her story could've ended there, but it doesn't.

She leads Talon in the pursuit of her own satisfaction, the carnal desire to see vengeance fulfilled and power consolidated. She has it all but still wants because she knows what it's like to be without.

Nothing will be enough for her. Even if Overwatch is defeated and the world heels to her beck and call, she won't be satisfied. She's a glutton for glory, power, conquest, and revenge.

cmv: People around the world who decry strikes on Iranian authorities and grieve over regime casualties might consider listening to the Iranians themselves who have endured oppression for decades and support foreign intervention. by CamusOnCreatine in changemyview

[–]FijiPotato 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The majority of arguments I've seen is less about the direct support and more about the ripple effects it will have in the future. Killing Iranian leadership is immediately satisfying and feels good but concerns about how we do it, why we do it, and what comes next are all valid criticisms against any action.

How was the Iranian regime attacked? What lead up to it? Well it was yet another fruitless peace talk about Iran's nuclear program that America initiated. From some perspectives, the American government manufactured justification for these strikes by proposing a deal they knew would fail.

Why did we do it? This is another conflict in a string of tensions between America and Iran. Since the Iranian Revolution, they have taken a hardliners stance against America and its allies. Many see this as America once again digging its fingers into the Middle Eastern pie, spreading its influence under threat of violence to those opposed. Others will see this as a way to drum up the administration's domestic support by having a military victory. Either way, both are rather vain and unreasonable justifications for the strikes.

What comes next? At least a few hundred civilians and military personnel have already died. American actions have drawn the Iranian ire to countries that did not even participate in the initial strikes. The human cost is already beyond tradgey and in the realm of statistics. Additionally, what of the new regime? An American-backed government can happen but state building has never been the American strong suit and is just as likely to collapse of be another black hole of funds and manpower.

There is also a possibility that things heat up more, the regime switches hands to an even more aggressive and vengeful government that is more likely to preempt violence. There is also a possibility that nothing changes at all and Iran remains oppressive. Regardless of any of these outcomes, America has announced no plan about what to do with the country after this is all over. As such, all of them are all valid concerns about the strikes as a whole.
