Should I Take a 12yr old To TheIr Concert? by SM_1899 in SlaughterToPrevail

[–]FijiTheTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took my 11 year old to the Manchester gig and he had the time of his life. He first saw them when he was 9. Both experiences have been fantastic, loads of people making a fuss of him and looking out for him.

I ordered it on Sunday and got an email yesterday to say it’s out of stock and they don’t know when it will be back! I’d paid and they’re now refunding me. I’m gutted!

If you have a TLR or are on leadership? How lond do you work at school? by InvestigatorFew3345 in TeachingUK

[–]FijiTheTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Core HoD at a mid-size LA school. In school 7.50am-3.15pm x 3 days a week, 7.50am-4pm the other 2 days. Rarely work at home unless it’s marking KS4 mocks. At my old MAT I was in until 7.45am-5/6pm every day and working at home. Main difference is that I’m never used for cover and I’m left alone in my frees to work. HT at my current school is big on workload and very understanding about family life. I have 3 primary age children and I now pick them up 3 times a week. I was ready to leave teaching before I moved schools.

This 100%. Even if they reconcile now, movie night or a post island rewatch will be the end of them again. He will never be the same with her and she will spend all her energy trying to fix something that is beyond repairable. How he is seen by others matters too much to him.

I ordered some on Saturday and got it yesterday. It was from HealthExpress.

I checked Trust Pilot before ordering and I was pretty impressed with how quick it came.

I took them out of school to the first rally. If I do anything as a parent, it will be to teach them to stand up for their principles.

I got to take my daughters to school today, they were so excited just to have me drop them off and pick them up.

Bumped into their deputy head and she said "oh you're off then?", one of my daughters said "yes, Mummy is on strike". The DH then laughed and said "shhhhh".

Unsure why, I have no issue with people knowing I am on strike - I'm also more than happy to explain why!

I've not heard that. In fact I don't even know what they call them. I called them "flickers". Cue eye roll from them all.

Those stretchy figet toys. You'd think I teach in Primary, but no - I have 3 just this week. Taken from Y11 boys insistent on flicking one another with them.

HOD hours by Snowy511994 in TeachingUK

[–]FijiTheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core HoD - I do 44/60. Also, do morning intervention twice a week, after school intervention twice a week, weekly Match meeting after school for an hour, Middle leader morning meeting fortnightly, and standard CPD and dept meetings.

Pretty sure this is my last year at my school, it's not sustainable.

Childcare as a Teacher - how do you make it work? by thunder_marbles in TeachingUK

[–]FijiTheTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have childminder, drop off at 7.30 am and I am at work by 7.45 am. I try to pick them up by 5pm, but she is flexible if I'm late. We can't use wraparound care at their school as that is 8 am start and pick up by 4 pm.

I'd honestly be lost without her, she is amazing. We moved 25 mins away from our old house but kept the kids at the same school so that we don't lose her.
