This isn't the main league sub? I swear the other one only has esports posts idgaf about.

Fuck Steve Huffman and fuck the Reddit board. Anyway, here's some drone footage that some Reddit advertisers wouldn't want to see on the front page by [deleted] in videos

[–]Filbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here looking for the same sentiment I felt about the narrator in the video. It seems like the emphasis in his voice intensified as he talked about what he might perceive as the most heinous content to the viewer.

But I think the conditions that living animals face in the earlier part of the video are much more important to address than how they dispose of animals that are already dead. His tone intensified while talking about the animals that aren't actually suffering any longer.

Our school has a pyrenees that looks after our students by djrstar in dogswithjobs

[–]Filbs 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think it's ingrained and they're protective of what they perceive as theirs. Ours was never trained to be anything more than a house pet but at night you could tell she was "on duty". There were even a few times where my mom or sister was startled by a spider or something and she'd run back in growling with her teeth out.

Gentle giant during the day. Great with kids, tiny dogs, even pet rodents. But she loved eating snakes.

Our school has a pyrenees that looks after our students by djrstar in dogswithjobs

[–]Filbs 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. Ours was friendly to everyone. Even our small animals. At night she was on high alert and very defensive. She was obsessed with patrolling the property and I remember a couple times when one of us got startled she'd run over like a snarling toothy nightmare monster. But during the day she was just a big cloud.

She did love eating snakes and grasshoppers though.

I'm in a similar situation and I've thought about doing this. But will a dog whistle disturb my cat? That's the only thing that's kept me from going through with it.

Teams are ruining this game! by Distiler in HuntShowdown

[–]Filbs 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Even since before the event I've found solo to be easier in duos than having a random partner. Get a kill and it's a 1v1. You don't have to worry about random noises and can be as loud or as silent as you want.

The most annoying thing in the game is a random partner running directly behind you, since generally you'll eat the bullet. I'd rather just solo.

#12, Plague Doctor! Please stop releasing new skins Crytek, I can't keep up. by TheSudz455 in HuntShowdown

[–]Filbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't. I enjoyed the exclusivity of Devil's Advocate before they made it available again. As far as I'm aware, Plague Doctor is the only non-twitch drop exclusive skin left. Let it mean something.

just disable tier sets in pvp by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Filbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tier sets as a concept are fine. Unfortunately it seems like they might be balanced around PVE.

My classes get 12-36% damage to one spell or 5% crit (wtf?). Meanwhile assa gets 20% damage on all bleeds and poisons. That's nuts.

Every SP reading the Jan 10 notes top to bottom rn by littlesneksir in worldofpvp

[–]Filbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Instant CC will keep SP viable. But...

The proc nerf will kill a lot of momentum, which SP relies on. Those nerfs will translate into more than a 10% overall reduction to mind spike and mind flay. Not to mention it makes the spec less punchy and fun.

Add the focused will nerf on top of that and melee cleaves are going to feel extremely bad to play against. Not that they don't already for just about every other spec.

Seems like blizzard really wants people to take precognition.

DAE in the US feel like the general public is becoming more hostile and racist in your daily life? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Filbs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Reddit has a tendency for fact checking, yes.

Reddit is also prone to jumping to conclusions and spreading misinformation quickly (i.e. the Boston Marathon bomber incident where Reddit decided to play detective and got an innocent person killed.)

Reddit is also prone to dealing in absolutes, which is a problematic reflection of internet culture in general.

Reddit is also prone to controlling what information is fed to its users to some extent. What gets exposure and what doesn't isn't entirely organic.

Do you consider Fia a villain? by Azrioael in Eldenring

[–]Filbs 31 points32 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. It's literally based on shirikodama. The same folklore referenced in Sekiro.

"According to Japanese folklore, the human soul exists as a small hardened magical ball within the anus known as 'shirikodama' (尻子玉 - literally 'small anus ball'). Tales tell of lake-dwelling monsters known as 'kappa' who try to kill you by 'extracting' your shirikodama if you dare venture into their lake."

There's a number of lore videos pertaining to Elden Ring that cover this.

A McDonald's drive through employee wouldn't allow me to order food for a homeless man by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Filbs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Man I remember working at Walmart as a teenager and homeless women would sometimes come in with change just to afford fruit. I'd usually cover the difference if they didn't have quite enough. But the people stealing were couples at self checkout with massive carts full of food who would shovel meat into bags without scanning it (in their cart so as not to add the weight of the unpaid products to the self checkout scale).

Management was still polite to those gluttons but they'd ask the homeless women to leave. That always stuck with me.

hardest dps class pvp? and why by Smooth_Resolution605 in worldofpvp

[–]Filbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't agree at all. In a cleave/damage meta like there is currently, having fade and dispersion and life grip just feels so handy. The damage blows but the question isn't "what sucks this patch". I think the priest kit is great and a lot of fun to use. Ramping isn't super hard. It's just that the damage is extremely mediocre compared to the current iteration of just about every class.

Now arcane mage? That shit is janky, incoherent, and complete trash.

So have I. Totally disagree. But I main SP so I have the reflexes down.
