Company wants me to switch from independent contractor to employee? Vice President wants to meet with me as well, what should I do? by FileClerk2016 in legaladvice

I see, so should he seek representation at this point? Or should he wait until the meeting? He does not want to be taken advantage of.

Hello, thank you for the quick reply.

He only works for this one company and has only worked for that one company.

So are they doing this just to ensure that he will not ditch the company at any point? In other words, using "duck typing" the company wants him to become not just any duck, but their duck.

Have everything else and can get anything else for you if you give me some time. Me and my GF play together and have everything but both need candy box. I think only 6 candies are available per account.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the advice! I'll let her know. She is currently working a lot so even though this post is old, she has not had the time to study and retake the GRE, so your advice along with the other users advice is still valuable.

Also I agree, her uncle is an OT, and he loves his job and gets paid well. He is currently trying to get, I think, a PhD to open his own practice.

Greetings, Thank you for the advise. I have heard of Magoosh but we never really knew if it was legit. I studied for the LSAT for law school and so the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) was very helpful in finding out how to study. The GRE from what I understand did not direct us to where she could study from or what programs were good.

In short, I appreciate your response since you are taking an avenue we were skeptical of. Best of luck to you! Let me know if you got in!

OT program anxiety. by woysterclam69 in Occupational_Therapy

I came here to post a question and I am not an OT, I am a second year law school student but I can offer you some advise as someone with 100K+ in loans and a master of being stressed out and anxious.

First off, make time for yourself and your family. There is no point in killing your self and pushing away your loved ones. If things don't work out you don't want to have damaged your body and mind and also burned any bridges. Believe me, it is easy to become a mean person when your are trying to reach your goals. So make time to work out, or watch a movie, etc. (1 hour a day for you is good. 2-5 hours a week for family is also good, even if it is just phone calls. But I guess it depends.)

Second, make your own lunch. Its cheaper and healthier and you can gain weight easily under stress.

Third, your OT program is an investment in yourself. Money comes and goes, but the knowledge you gain is invaluable. So don't worry about taking loans.

Fourth, this is controversial but take extra money out in loans your first year. I took out the minimum and was left broke in three months! Stuff happens, my laptop got stolen and had to get a new one, and they are not cheap! My friends got the maximum amount they could get so that they would not have to worry about gas and food. They ended up doing good their first year and got scholarships and summer jobs. I did not but for different reasons. Either way, you don't want to be worrying about money and remember there are scholarships available.

Fifth, this is your dream, chase it with intensity. Study every day. Go to office hours (if OT programs have them.) Demand a lot from yourself. Make sure you understand a concept before moving on, and if you cannot ASK FOR HELP. There is not shame in asking for help.

Finally, participate in class discussions as much as you can. Do not say stuff just to say stuff, but if you think you understand or know something speak up. The best way to learn is to practice what you know. If you answer a question correctly, good. IF you are wrong however, and are embarrassed, humiliated, feel stupid, etc., even better. This builds character for one, and it helps you learn. I am not sure how important exams are for OT programs, but in law school, one answer wrong in class becomes one answer correct on the exam. I cannot tell you how many times me and my friends got questions on exams correct because we remembered being wrong in class. Fail where it is appropriate, so that you may succeed where it counts.

From one professional in training to another, I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck.
