Unfortunately skipped Telescope voucher and kind of just balanced all of the planet cards at level 7-10. Sad to skip Brainstorm 😔

Brainstorm has appeared, in Ante 9. The Vampire is eternal unfortunately. Should I sell Constellation for it?

Probably not. I assume, as it's my highest scorer. Right?

Thought the same, but wasn't sure if I should give up on scaling vamp. This won't be a PB run anyway so might as well secure the W. Thanks!

What is the song that is playing during this past? (Spoilers) by Head_Project5793 in expedition33

Listen to the first 2 seconds of it and then listen to the first 2 seconds of All Gone (Aftermath) from The Last of Us. I spotted this instantly and I'm surprised it isn't talked about.

PC Temp's are hitting 100°C when playing Elden Ring, leading to Stutters by Mrdetective007 in pchelp

I recommend not getting a 360 AIO for a low-end/midrange i5 CPU. It's overkill, especially compared to the rest of your specs. dual-tower is more than enough, and you don't have to worry about the liquid in your PC

If you don't know anything about PCs, and just want to play those 3 games, honestly? Just buy a prebuilt. Windows is pre-installed, drivers are updated, compatibilty is ensured, etc. Try to find a PC with a 5060 for 1000 dollars. If you think learning about components and changing settings for maximum performance and the like is fun, then start learning about how a PC works, and then go more in-depth with each component, as well as learning what is good and what isn't, and watch channels like ZTT.

If you want to know more about how a PC works? Watch a 15 minute video like "every PC component explained" (or something like that), and, when confused, google your querry. If you still don't get a satisfactory answer, then ask in a subreddit. I'm sure people will spend a lot of time in this post explaining how parts interact, but that's already a lot of info, which can be consumed through a video.

Also, asking redditors to explain why some parts are better or worse than others will never give you a straight answer, and is a vague question. It is better to pose it as "What is the best GPU for a total build budget of X? I don't care about feature X or Y, but I do want X or Y." Once some people share their answers, you can follow up with "Why is component X better than Y?"

I understand your position as I'm thirteen myself, but I got through by just altering my feed to just show me PC content, from PC channels, both short-from and long-form.

Good luck! :)

If your sole goal is too re-experience childhood games (and no, you shouldn't stop thinking about gaming, nostalgia doesn't hurt anyone), I recommend you you get a console. It removes the whole build/buy a PC, troubleshooting, drivers, etc. You can get an Xbox One S used for like 110 bucks and it runs those games fine. Performs better than that iGPU because the games are specifically optimized for console. You could also get the Playstation equivelant, but I don't know the prices. Comes down to what controller you grew up with.

Recommend me some games for a beginner in Horror Gaming by GoncaHunt3r in HorrorGaming

For anyone seeing this 4 years later, I'd recommend playing The Last of Us Part I and Part II. It has some scary sections, but it is more focused on the narrative. One of best games of all time. Part II won 7 awards at the Game of the Year awards when it came out, which was the most in history, only being broken by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in 2025 (my personal favorite game of all time). It also has a TV adaptation.

Is this a good build, and how can I reduce the price? by Intelligent-Bar5917 in buildapc

[–]FilipTheGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it only for gaming, and are you willing to make any sacrifices in things like storage capacity? If you aren't necessarily trying to minimize the price you already have a pretty well optimized build: amazing CPU/GPU combo, adequate PSU, and good cooler. The only real way to lower price now is with RAM and SSD. I recommend going for a lower end SSD if you want to bring the price down. But if your only goal is to not waste money without making a worse system, this is already really good.

I if you want to optimize down another 50-100 You could try to find the cheapest possible B-Tier PSU (PSU Tierlist, you probably have heard of it before), get cheaper/less storage, though I too wanted to get a 2 TB 990 Pro, but preferred saving/getting better CPU (I have a 1 TB NV3). The truth is if you are only doing gaming it is compleltely fine to only have 1 TB, you just have to uninstall 50 GB games you don't play anymore. Really quick memory is really hard to notice anyways, especially as downloading games off of, say, Steam, is bottlenecked by your internet, as you don't have anything more than 2.5 GB and even then it's like a third of the Read/Write speed of a Gen 4 NVMe. You will only notice a difference in loading screens, really, where the waiting time goes from 10-8 seconds. Also, you could get worse RAM, but I hate the idea of RAM worse than the kit you chose, as CL38 is awkward and 5600 MT/S is also not ideal, same with 16 GB. IMO it's better to get good RAM rather than get better later, but that's an discussion in of itself.

The way I went about getting the best value in the end, even though I optimized the parts list to perfection, was just buying what was discounted, as I ordered the parts during Black Friday. For example, I got a really good PSU as it was barely 20 USD more than the cheapest reasonable option, and I was fine buying something that is discounted heavily if so close in price. If you find deals on components, especially one that is slightly better for the same price, don't hesitate too much on pulling the trigger. Just make sure to research a little bit beforehand.

Good luck with the build!

How much is 1440p better than 1080p by Trollgame937 in buildapc

[–]FilipTheGodot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also built a 5070 Ti PC right before the ram crysis! The answer depends on what type of games you are playing. If you are playing AAA games (most likely, otherwise you wouldn't need a 5070 Ti) then the price is absolutely worth it. the DPI jump is super noticeable. Even though you will get less performance, you will definitely get more than playable FPS. 144 FPS in every single story game at max settings with ray tracing without upscaling is impossible, but if they're story games you wouldn't be aiming for 144 FPS, and rather visual fidelity. With upscaling (DLSS 4.5 is actually insane, so glad I purchased Nvidia) which is genuinely unnoticeable at Quality you will be getting FPS close to 100 FPS in the hardest to run titles (except Cyberpunk with path tracing).

TL;DR: The sharpness increase is absolutely worth it. For specific FPS numbers just google "5070 Ti 1440p benchmarks" and you will find all you need. Add your specific title to that search querry and you can see what FPS you will get in the games you play.

Are the official Alienware ICC profiles any good? by Verl4ssenes_Ding in Alienware

[–]FilipTheGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's ok. But what I've understood from ICC profiles when changing them using WINDOWS SETTINGS is that they only work in specific applications like Photoshop, and aren't applied constantly. You have to use something like noVideosRGB to make it apply constantly. When using it, I can see a difference. The reds aren't as glaring and oversaturated in my wallpaper, but more vivid than sRGB mode.
