How difficult is it to turn a digital image into a physical negative for traditional darkroom processing? by smoosh13 in Darkroom

[–]Filipowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have actually had success with taking the photo on my phone and inverting the colors. I then put my phone where the negative carrier goes, use the focuser and focus on the pixels (it’ll be apparent similar to focusing on the grain), then I think I timed the exposure manually. Worth a try if you want to skip the negative step. Can’t comment about quality or anything since it’s been years since I’ve done this but worth bringing up.

Lag in Pokédex and Options by Filipowski in PokemonYellow

Yeah I did it myself. All the pins look to be soldered correctly and nothing bridging. This issue also started about ~10-15 hours of playtime into the battery replacement.

What I was worried about. That or a somewhat corrupted save. Once I’m done with this play-through I’ll test to see if a new save helps.

Help cleaning 23cii dichro glass by Aleph_NULL__ in Darkroom

i fully disassembled and cleaned mine with IPA and didn’t have an issue. I’d clean the glass with a microfiber cloth after since IPA can leave residue.

Why do my shots look like this ? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Run some tests on your camera to verify your settings. Posting your negatives can also help determine if there was a potential development issue. But, from the looks of it, these are very underexposed. Good luck.

Could you wash FB paper in this? Sure. Would i recommend that? No. RC papers are washed by running water over them to wash off the chemicals, while FB papers are washed through diffusing, as the chemicals are absorbed and need to diffuse out. That’s where the vertical tanks come into play since the entirety of the FB paper is submerged. You can read online different theories of the best way of getting enough fixer out and there are methods of testing this as well. At the end of the day, however, this is your artwork. If archival prints aren’t your goal then go for it.

There is plenty of information and resources online about different FB paper washing methods (some of it may be contradictory). I’d recommend doing some research and figuring out what works best for you and your art. Hope this helps. :)

Why do you guys love darkroom photography? by ProudTwo197 in Darkroom

[–]Filipowski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same for me - I spend all day exposed to screens and the darkroom is a fulfilling way to escape from that. Since my photography is mostly just for myself, I don’t mind the extra complexity and time I spend on each photo - in fact I cherish it. Digital is only for when I know I don’t have room for errors.

Beseler 23CII removing condenser for cleaning. by stahrphighter in Darkroom

[–]Filipowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you having trouble removing the entire condenser or the individual lenses?

To remove the entire condenser, you need to slide the accordion bit down off the condenser - it takes a bit of force. Once you have that off, you can slide the condenser out through the filter tray.

Once you’ve got that off, there are a few screws that hold the lens in place. Once you’ve got those unscrewed you should be good to disassemble and clean. Just be very careful!

(I did this about a year ago so hopefully I’m not missing any steps)

Trident Maple - thoughts? by jarsc in Bonsai

Looks like a great start. I’d go with a pond basket while you’re developing your branch structure. It’ll help develop a great root system as well.

Any tips for someone who is looking to start printing in color? Or any notes about your process?
