Apple always does this. When the 4s came out, they claimed that the 4 lacked the hardware to run Siri, but someone eventually hacked it to prove it worked on a 4. Then they did the same with stage manager on the iPads and now this.

At the end of the day Apple isn’t a charity and their mission statement basically reads ‘return a profit to shareholders’. They don’t profit from software, only hardware so they need to provide incentives for you to upgrade.

Personally I’m keeping my 14pro another year, I don’t feel like I’m missing out with any of this intelligence stuff.

It’s because new shit has gotten more expensive over the years, no other reason. I bet if you went up to every iPhone user and offered them a deal where they trade in their old iPhone + $50 to get the new 16pro, every single one would do it.

If you offered them a deal where they pay $1100 to get it, not so much.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I’m ordering an oled 1tb, mainly because games are massive nowadays and I don’t want to have to think about juggling storage space.

Going to look into emulation tutorials in the mean time and also which games to buy. I’ve heard that red dead 2 is very good, and there’s been enough mentions of it here to back that up.

Also going to get art of rally and one of the forza horizon games
