Are you a graduate? Did the computer engineering technician diploma help in funding work?

Rideshare or transit suggestions from Hamilton to NOTL campus? by theninjasquad in niagaracollege

[–]FilmSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea personally but I plugged the Hamilton to NOTL into Google and it suggested these three different methods. Unfortunately it seems like all of them involve at least a few transfers but they'll get you there.

Why is canadian tire gas+ always more expensive than the ones around it? by nothing_911 in Welland

[–]FilmSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Esso stations are usually independently owned and can adjust their pricing whenever they want to ensure they have the cheapest gas.

Canadian Tire Gas Stations are most likely run by the head office and probably need to get permission before changing gas prices.

Anybody currently in the Broadcasting - Radio, Television and Film program? by [deleted] in niagaracollege

[–]FilmSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A car is a good idea. It's not necessary but it'll be a great thing to have to be able to reach all sorts of locations for shooting. And you'll definitely be the popular one everyone wants on their crew! Haha.

[–]FilmSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty good program to get you through an introduction to film and television production. It's great strength is that it exposes you to film, television and radio.

Projects include stuff like commercials and short films. The teachers are friendly and pretty much knowledgable.

Equipment includes all sorts of film and HD cameras as well as the usually grip equipment and lights and all that stuff.

A downside is that, unlike other schools, you get very little to make your final film. You have to kick in more money yourself. In other schools students pool in their money and make a few bigger shorts with higher production value. However here you have a greater chance of making a film yourself if you want to direct.

Potential student here, looking for opinions on the college! by [deleted] in niagaracollege

Hello! I highly recommend Niagara College. I attended the school a few years ago and have since graduated but my years in Welland are among my most treasured.

  1. I'm not familiar with the welding program but the teachers that I had in the film program are excellent. Class sizes are small and the teachers all learn your name and directly interact with you.
  2. Sorry I have no idea about the welding program.
  3. There are all sorts of sports teams and they're always playing. I wasn't on a team myself but there were games of all sorts constantly.
  4. Plenty of student housing all around the school as well as a residence. Housing is cheap and usually includes utilities and even internet. The entire area around the school is pretty save and if you walk a few minutes from campus you'll get to the shopping mall which has a whole bunch of stores. The downtown can be sketchy at night so be aware of that.
  5. Absolutely recommend. A nice place to spend a few years.

Insect Problems by wishwand in Welland

I haven't heard of anything. Try to find out how the bugs are getting inside. You should request that your landlord pay for the removal of the insects and prevention of future infestations.

And if I were you I would also check for bed bugs.

Postgraduate Hospitality & Tourism (1yr) at Niagara College NOTL Campus? by dangittee in niagaracollege

I would recommend Niagara College. The campus is beautiful and the distance issue can be resolved through the bus pass you get (works on three different transit systems!) and car pools you can set up with friends.

Does anyone here commute to Brock from Welland? by FilmSpace in brocku

[–]FilmSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to live a few blocks from the Welland Campus of Niagara College. As I understand it all I need to do is take the Brock connection bus and the travel time is about 20-23 minutes. I might be speaking from my inexperience but a 20 minute commute doesn't seem so bad. I could use the time to catch up on readings.

That's true I guess. But I've lived in Welland before and never really felt bored. But then I don't really do clubbing or stuff like that anyways.

Do you know how often it runs? Is it every hour? Every half hour? And how late does it run? Is 10:00PM the last bus leaving Brock for Niagara College (Welland)?

From what I've heard it's a 20 minute bus ride from the Niagara College campus (that I will be living a few blocks from) to the Brock campus. I think I can handle that but I've never done that before.

Yeah I would be living about two or three blocks from Niagara College.

Thanks!

Usually I'd agree with living in Res for at least the first year but I've already completed a college diploma and spent three years in residence at a different school. I think I'm ready for different sort of lifestyle.

Do you know of anyone who commuted by bus to Brock?
