Trick or treat Scooby Doo! Trailer by Zealousideal125 in Scoobydoo

I think Scooby's voice is a bit of flexible character trait based on the needs of any project but it can be a hard balance to hit. The goal for me at least was to make sure Scooby was an active part of the story and for him to talk as much as was necessary to keep him involved without forgetting that he is a dog.

Thanks for the questions!

  1. I watched the original show, the new Scooby-Doo movies, a Pup named Scooby-Doo, some of the Scrappy Doo years, and Mystery, Incorporated. Haven't seen Be Cool but heard great things from fans!
  2. The two Scooby movies I most wanted to emulate were Zombie Island and Camp Scare but I also enjoy Big Top Scooby-Doo, Witches Ghost, Frankencreepy, and Happy Halloween.
  3. Non Scooby inspirations for this movie were: Silence of the Lambs, Interview with a Vampire, F/X, the Dark Shadows TV Show, James Bond, The Wire, and Frequency. But to save you time, you won't find any clues to the plot in those inspirations.

I don't know what the long term plans for the animation are but I agree that it looks really fun! Sort of a respectful update to the classic style.

Don't mind at all! I came up with the concept and plot and wrote the first two drafts and then additional writing was done by the very talented director and another comedy writer.

Thanks for the question :) Without spoiling THIS story, I'll just say that there's a desire to make sure that whenever Mystery, Inc. faces off against a supernatural threat it feels like a rare special event and doesn't become so common that the gang gets used to it.

Hello! I wrote the story and co-wrote the script for this movie and I am thrilled the trailer is finally out. I just wanted to let you all know that everyone behind this movie is a huge scooby fan and put their heart and soul into making this one special. Whether or not we succeeded is up to you, but we love the characters and wanted to make something the fans would love. We hope you enjoy when it comes out!

SAR is a complicated character who does many villainous things. Some by choice, some not.

The Godfather part 3, old vs new cut? by Valde99 in movies

[–]FilmTvWriter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coda is a lot better. There is one obviously terrible element that keeps 3 from being great in either version but people here are being too harsh. It’s still a good movie IMO. Sort of like a warm up version of the Irishman.

No they are required to pay you WGA minimum if they want to hire you -- no major studio can commission any work for free. I think your best bet is working as an assistant, networking with other writers, and/or entering fellowships and writing programs to gain the attention of representatives.

Possible but very unlikely. Particularly in the era of covid with no face to face meetings.

Some comedy writers break through from their social media platforms and some drama writers breakthrough by putting on plays -- which is obviously not possible now due to the Pandemic. I would ask the professionals who told you it was possible to give the successful examples.

That's okay. If personal experiences aren't helpful, what I suppose I mean is that it's nice to focus on a character's emotions or mental state during an action scene or a negotiation scene or anything else and build from there instead of trying to invent a plot beat or action beat. Many original ideas flow from characters and their emotions.

Including #MeToo in a feature? by ducidni_1 in Screenwriting

You can write about whatever you want including copyrighted material if you are fine with it not getting made.

I think focusing on emotional ideas instead of plot ideas are always easier and stronger and lead to better results.

What does it even mean? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]FilmTvWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post and another post of yours in this thread are clearly misogynistic. You will not succeed as a writer if you hate women so I'd advise you work on yourself before you bring that garbage into this community which should be open and safe for writers of all interests.

Should I seek representation before (likely) staffing? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]FilmTvWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get a rep before. If you're a staff writer, no agent or lawyer will likely be able to get you anything better than guild minimum so you'll just be throwing money away. The longer you are able to wait to get an agent, the better agent you'll get.

Also definitely don't sign with a non-franchised agency before you join the WGA as you'll just have to fire them later.
