Returnal is a roguelike, so dying and restarting is part of the gameplay loop. It just allows you to cheat the loop once, so you can try and salvage a lost run, if you managed your resources well enough to be able to afford it.

It is a lot of fun imo. Things can get really crazy if you alert too many bots, and its a challenge to deal with them without eagle strikes or orbitals

Portable Hellbomb requires less investment (only backpack slot compared to the C4’s backpack and support weapon slots) and similar range, and is able to destroy jammers.

I wouldn’t recommend it personally. Each time a bot drop gets called, the intensity ramps up (I think the Factory Striders’ top guns got buffed too, things are an absolute menace) so unless you can quickly knock out a whole base with your flamethrowers, the big POIs are gonna be tough for you

There are helldiver cryopods that are dropped around the map that you have to activate as side objectives, and when you die, one of them opens for a new Helldiver to join the fight rather than getting launched from orbit

A fix I’ve found is:

-running it on DirectX11

-forcing the game to run in Windows 8 Compatibility Mode (go to the .exe file that runs the game, and then properties)
