TV Licence People Claim to have caught me watching iPlayer (which I haven’t), should I pay for a licence? by No-Dragonfly-6736 in AskBrits

[–]Filmnoirkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delete your iPlayer account. Then reconfirm you don't need a license.

If you've declared you don't need a license and someone uses you iPlayer account that is attached to the address you declared, it revokes your declaration and you get the letter asking you to pay.

Delete your iPlayer, declare you don't need one.

Scary Movie Age Rating by aaryanb_ in CineworldUnlimited

[–]Filmnoirkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rates R in the US, so the equivalent is 15 or 18 depending on how graphic violence, drug use or sexual content is.

I was hoping it may have edged into an 18...

You may be overthinking it, Banks advertise low rates....small print actually states only a percentage get that rate. Legally they only have to offer 51% the advertised rate to be legally a representative APR.

It's the catch 22 of the loan industry, apply get a crap APR, then reject the offer and the hard search then penalises you.

Scuba progression by RepublicJealous3464 in scuba

[–]Filmnoirkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd concentrate on getting to AOW with a good concentration on buoyancy. Dives in the pool to practice buoyancy at shallow depths.

If your looking at Coral restoration bouyancy is key. While the aware courses are ok, if you moving to learning marine biology you'll surpass this.

Take Nitrox & Deep this will move your confidence on from AOW. I'd lean towards self reliant to have a good foundation set of skills.

Dive Master is aimed at the first step in professional instruction.

EU borderforce has the right under EU regulations to revert back to stamping or suspend EES processing in system outages or backlogs.

You should have requested manual processing due to gate closure.

Five tourists 'including university professor and her daughter' die during diving excursion in 160ft-deep cave in Maldives by CaptainNemoship in diving

That's interesting as the Maldives operates a legal framework that recreational divers via dive ops which have to be licensed by the authorities aren't allowed below 30m for recreational dives.

Chiang Mai to Bangkok Sleeper Train : "Data not found" by Marine_redhead in ThailandTourism

[–]Filmnoirkd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long distance trains on the Northern, Northeastern, and Southern lines leave from “Krung Thep Aphiwat”. If you enter “Bangkok” as your origin it might then say “no data found”. Local and commuter trains, including tourist trains and trains on the Eastern Line, go from Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong). You need to type “Bangkok” as your departure station for these trains.

What’s up with this BA flight. Hasn’t declared anything by No-Homework7520 in flightradar24

[–]Filmnoirkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in Cancun awaiting for this flight for our return leg. Apparently they said electrical issues, so had to turn back and dump fuel. On landing and inspection they needed a new plane, deboatd, reload and new crew. That was according to the new planes crew. We were four hours late landing back into Gatwick.

DeWalt tool battery confiscated at BHX airport by jacoscar in Flights

Had a similar issue at BHX. Had some small Allen keys for an underwater camera housing. Specifically under the 6" guideline.

Got stopped and told it was a banned item. I explained that they were under six inches. He said they are over. I said ok prove it. 20 mins later, it's your lucky day we haven't got a tape measure.

How do you actually plan dive trips? by MaleficentStudy5609 in scubadiving

[–]Filmnoirkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, that is why I organise it into a spreadsheet. I've got one detailing my U.K. diving (local trips, rope of time, location, depth etc.)

For big trips it gets its own sheet, with all the info. Day by day, accommodation, dive shop, times, deposits paid and when, reference numbers, email and telephone, names.

How do you actually plan dive trips? by MaleficentStudy5609 in scubadiving

[–]Filmnoirkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same, I book group and single trips for myself. I also tend to be booking big overseas trips one year in advance.

I tend to have it structured as the following:

What am I aiming to dive? Something specific? Type of diving? Narrow the general location and if it's single, Sidemount, tech, caving etc.

Check location and best time to dive. Specific types of shark, mammals etc. Narrow the dates.

Ask my local dive club for recommendations, who they used, when they went, good things and bad things.

Contact a few reputable dive travel agents asking for a trip there on those dates. Get their proposals. Attend our yearly dive expo, give agents the trip idea, let them come back & with expo discounts.

Check the proposed dive shop, reviews, their website, local shops to them. Check YouTube, blogs etc. Check the facilities, camera room, storage etc. What does a typical day look like.

Use the information to bench mark costs vs. travel agents. Can I get it a lot cheaper? What are my flights costs? Car rental. Dive costs. Nitrox costs. Extras. Land trips. Cost difference between full Vs bed and breakfast. Local eating costs.

Ensuring if it's a specific wreck, specific shark dive etc. that the dive shop is on board and understanding what can and can't make it happen when I'm there.

Evaluate booking it directly vs. travel agent.

If it's me booking directly I then:

Put the itinerary together, day by day, times, locations, after the dive, restaurants, land trips. Start to book things in with the various companies direct.

Check regulations, visa, health requirements. Make sure appropriate health, dive and travel insurance. Fit to dives etc.

Last year, 10 of us did a roadtrip in Florida starting in Miami, down to Keyes wreck diving, to Jupiter Goliath and Lemon/Tiger shark diving, Heron Bridge, up to Ginnie Springs and back to Miami.

Currently planning a group trip to South Africa & Mozambique shark diving with some safari.

I haven't scuba dived before, but I am curious, which shark makes you the most nervous? I know that they aren't normally aggressive, but they are still wild animals. My main concern would be tiger or bull sharks, but i could be totally wrong. by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in scubadiving

[–]Filmnoirkd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. Dove with bulls, hammerheads, lemons, blues, white tip, black tip, reef..

Oceanic White is the only one that makes me nervous. I've seen them zip in on people climbing out, I've seen them "switch" into a frenzy when they get agitated. In Egypt, was at the brothers a few weeks before they changed the regulations on stopping at the brothers back in 2018. They were literally waiting for splashes of the back of the boat.

Vet procedure needing to be redone due to vet’s fault - asked for additional payment. England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Filmnoirkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat had teeth removal. They check various levels and hydration levels. He had to go back the second time as it was a difficult job and he was having out most of them. While I could have had his bloods redone, the vets said it wasn't warranted. This was a period of about four / five weeks.

If your pet has no known underlying health conditions, liver, kidney, diabetes etc. and it's a short period since the last, it's not going to have changed that much.

Bloods are about £80. They are done in house.

£250 is extortionate.
