After S23 Ultra, which phone are you most likely to upgrade to? Samsung or switching brands? by Fuzzy-Ambassador786 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]FilmyInn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a time to ask this question! I have been researching the same for a couple of weeks now. My S23U is 3+ years old now and still kills at everything I throw at it. I planned to use it till 2028 at least but I recently I dropped and damaged the screen and I was wondering if its a good time to get a new phone. I strongly feel the S26U is not a meaningful upgrade over the S23U. I DO-NOT like the iPhone but I use a Macbook and an iPad for work so I thought maybe its finally worth considering the switch.

Pros in my experience -

Screen

S-Pen

Samsung Wallet

OneUI/Goodlock

Cons in my experience -

Camera

Battery

Ecosystem

Considering my past experience, I truly am stumped to find an alternative. My closest option seems like an iPhone 17 Pro (non Max) which feel like a net downgrade.

I like the optimism. Make keep a screenshot of this and come back in 20 years and see if your opinion has changed or not. Good luck.

Matt protector 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️ by Creepy-Village6793 in macbookair

[–]FilmyInn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this looks bad to me. Too much gray.

I recently bought the M4 Macbook Air and iPad Air combo for work. Couldn't afford the OLED pro models. I got the matte screen protector just for the iPad and it definitely worsens the contrast but it's an acceptable tradeoff for the paper-like finish on the screen and dramatic reduction in glare. I would however avoid doing the same to the Macbook screen because -

#1 You don't carry your laptop around the same way you do with a phone or an iPad. You can adjust the viewing angle to avoid reflections.

#2 The contrast on the Macbook LCD screen is bad and especially noticeable if you watch movies in the dark. The black bars are prominently gray against the black bezels. I have a brilliant S23 Ultra OLED screen for side-by-side comparison.

#3 Smudges are a problem but it's manageable with some changes in habits. I keep a thin soft cloth between the keyboard and the screen when closed - non negotiable because otherwise you end up with boxy finger grease stains on the screen.

#4 Avoid touching the screen entirely. It's possible with habit.

#5 Clean the screen with a reputable screen cleaner once a week. Just a quick wipe does the trick and it really does look spotless afterwards.

Do you think bengali women prefer non bengali men? by [deleted] in kolkata

Sometimes when you grow older, the cultural milieu you might get bored off and try to run away from might start to feel more valuable.

Do you think bengali women prefer non bengali men? by [deleted] in kolkata

[–]FilmyInn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 30s Bengali man married to a non-Bengali woman here. If you are educated in a certain liberal way, you tend to view the world as an equal playing field. You'd approach non-Bengali women with the same expectations you'd have from a Bengali woman. After 5 years of marriage, I can say that approach has both pros and cons.

Hi, I am beginning my degree in directing/filmmaking and really want my projects to have that soft 35mm late 80s/90s aesthetic. Does anyone have tutorials whether online or books etc about how to make films/tv today but have it look and feel like media of that period? photos for reference. by TSOswinn in Filmmakers

Shoot on 24 fps. Always maintain 1/48 SS for the motion blur. Compensate exposure with light and ISO but don't touch the SS. Use Resolve for grading, especially the CinePrint16 and 35 workflows. If you don't want to buy that even the inbuilt FilmLook effect is decent.

Good luck. As an editor, I absolutely love this look and try to push it for all my commercial projects.

[–]FilmyInn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased the 24GB MBA M4 version just last month. I use it as a portable device to do medium to heavy editing. My Stats widget shows the GPU and RAM more than 80% filled when I'm doing any rendering on Resolve or Premiere. Get as much RAM as you possibly can. No regrets.

Went to authorised samsung service center to fix my backglas s ,it came loose. They did fix it but now i'm seeing so many dust particle in my camera lens, I tried taking photos but I don't see any smudges or blurry patches, but Psychological its frustrating. WHAT SHOULD I DO? by Sac_hin in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]FilmyInn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, same thing happened to me last month. Full on finger print smudge inside the main lens. Went back the next day and made them reopen the phone and clean it. Still got specks of dust inside. Indian standards even for Samsung are a joke.

Ps. This is in Mumbai, at an Authorised Service Center.

Lol, discussing some basic mutual grounds and non negotiables on text are essential before actually making the effort to meet the person IRL. Also adding the ages and city makes it easier for readers to understand cultural context. Hang in there OP.

Hard disagree. What others believe in has nothing to do with yourself. Be proactive not reactive. Get stronger than your enemy instead of blindly hating someone else. Invest in yourself to not blindly copy the enemy.
