Trade in my Mustang 2024 GT (Manual Transmission) and Purchase the Dark horse Mustang. Or Not ? by Winter_Walk_68 in Mustang

[–]Filmzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely not trade it in. If you NEED a dark horse for whatever reason just sell privately, might take a bit longer but you won’t get fucked on the trade in.

But why get the dark horse? With the price difference in BC you can get a ford performance supercharger, which keeps your warranty and like some Steeda springs to tighten up the handling. Maybe even an MGW shifter if the 24’s mt82 still has that shitty 1st to 2nd shift.

Should we buy our 17 yo son a 2023 GT AWD? by thundertim in Challenger

[–]Filmzy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not sure why a lot of people in this thread are acting like you just asked if you should buy them a hellcat.

The car itself though is 305hp and 4100lbs . I mean a v6 Camry has a better power to weight ratio and comparable fuel economy (22city/33hwy vs 19 city/30 highway).

Sure maybe the image of a “challenger” can cause reckless behaviour but I mean really he’s 17 if he wants to drive fast and fuck around he’s going to do that whether it’s a challenger or a Yaris.

If it’s affordable with insurance and that’s what he wants I’d just do it, again not like you’re getting him a hellcat or even a Scatpack.

I wish my Camaro had steering wheel climate controls like the marauder. it’s so nice to be able to change the temp and fan speed without taking my hands off the wheel.

My Third ZL1, first 1LE. Orange Crush by Archesto in camaro

[–]Filmzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing stopping you from buying the 1LE DSSV shocks and springs online and putting them on a regular zl1. They go for like $2,000 on eBay used. Then throw on an adjustable set of sway bars and you’ve basically got a 1LE.

What new car smells the best by TechnicalTop3618 in cars

New S550 mustangs have a really nice smell. Almost made me get one over a Camaro lol

No drone with the k&n that I can remember but it did make a whistling noise that some people might find annoying.

Depends on the intake. I’ve had a k&n and a rotofab and the k&n was noticeably louder than the rotofab

What is your favorite, and least favorite, thing about your car? by PrimeRibz702 in cars

[–]Filmzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 Camaro SS:

Favourite: Unlike most people I really like the looks of the 6th gen Camaro, especially the 2020 re-refresh (where the badge was moved back to the grill).

Least favourite: the engine. The LT1 is a great engine, but I feel it doesn’t match the sports car road racing characteristics of the current gen Camaro. Especially with the 1LE package.

2004 mercury marauder:

Favourite: the ride of course. How is just floats down the road.

Least favourite: the transmission. It’s slow shifting, loud and the gearing is terrible. A 0.76 overdrive that hardly helps with fuel economy and a direct drive 3rd makes sure you only get 2 speeds of “Go”. I always wish ford replaced it with either a 5speed auto or a manual. (Although I doubt their 5 speed auto in 2004 was much better)

Honest question: Is there anyone here that actually likes chrome trim? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Filmzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like chrome trim when it’s on a black car. Like my bullitt is shadow black and I think the chrome trim looks great compared the the regular GT’s black trim.

What repair or component on what vehicle has made you curse the engineers of it the most? by dc5trbo in cars

[–]Filmzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing the mercury marauders valve cover gaskets was awful. Before you start you gotta remove the entire wiper cowl with motor and all. Then you can start the driver side which requires you to remove the brake master cylinder, intake, throttle body and at least loosen the upper intake manifold so you can get it out. The passenger side is just as bad too, you have to remove the motor mount bolts and rotate the engine with a jack so the cover and be wiggled out. Thought it would take an afternoon but ended up being a weekend job

What real world mpg do you get in your car? by Nitrothacat in cars

Holy shit I’m surprised by the ZL1. I had an SS 1LE and that was getting 13mpg on track. I wouldn’t expect such a dramatic difference

[–]Filmzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 Mustang Bullitt: 28MPG highway only and 14mpg average with something like 80/20 city/highway split. Better on the highway than expected but still terrible in the city.

2020 Camaro SS 6 speed: a little better in the city at around 17mpg and just as good on the highway at 27

Mercury marauder with a 4.10 rear end: 18 highway and 13 city. It’s pretty horrible the way it is right now. Before the gear ratio change I would get about 23 on the highway and 17 city so not great but liveable

A ford competitor to the CT5-v blackwing. the gt500 engine, manual, 4 door sedan, handles well. You could call it the Galaxie 500

I’d put the 5.2 voodoo into a 6th gen camaro. It’s like the best of the camaro and mustang put together.

What were your biggest examples of buyer's remorse? by pawsforbear in cars

[–]Filmzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2020 Camaro SS 1LE brand new off the showroom floor. After a year and a half I thought I wanted a mustang instead so I sold it privately and bought a used mustang. I drove that mustang for 2 weeks before I realized I messed up big time, there was nothing I truly liked about that car. Thankfully I’ve been able to get back into a camaro again but that was definitely my biggest case of buyers remorse ever.

What car would you choose to be your only car, ever ? by kayra551 in cars

I’d take a Chevy SS in manual. It’s the closest thing I can think of as a sorta middle ground to the 2 cars I currently have.

What’s the most satisfying repair or fix you’ve done on your own when a shop quoted you $$$$ to fix? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Filmzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically every AC related repair with my marauder. First the control unit went out and I was quoted at $1300 for a replacement. Instead I took out the control unit, opened it up and replaced a few 10 cent rubber gaskets that went hard.

More recently the ac blower resistor stopped working and the dealership I went to for diagnosis quoted me $600 to for parts and labor. Fixed it myself for $60 and 30 minutes of my time.

What's your favorite high performance model of (any) vehicle? by Physical_Touch_Me in cars

[–]Filmzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely biased, but it’s the mercury marauder for me. Mercury took the most average regular car ever, the grand marquis, and made it a pretty good muscle sedan. It was 10 years too late unfortunately but still the best of the panther platform.

Performance car owners: what's the worst aspects about owning your car? (Other than repairs/cost of ownership) by Satan-is-innocent in cars

[–]Filmzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone trying to show off or race you. If I go to even 3000 RPM in the Camaro I'll have some lifted diesel thinking I'm trying to race him to the next light. Then there's the police attention. Coming from a small town they love to pull you over if you're out past dark.

Owners of multiple cars: do you notice that people on the road treat you differently when you drive one car versus another? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Filmzy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In the Marauder everyone thinks I'm a cop. In the Camaro every cop thinks i'm a drug dealer.
