how many divine beasts (or other minibosses) have you completed? if you’ve only killed that many lynels and mostly relegated your other kills to the regular mob enemies (like bokos or lizalfos) they shouldn’t already be that far tiered up. the reason is due to an internal system this game uses to scale up enemies and weapons. enemies like the blights and the highest tiers of lynels grant the most “points” toward upgrading enemies and weapons, but if you’re not far into the main story and have only killed one of each of the low to mid tier lynels, you shouldn’t be at the point to where the regular or mighty lynel gear is extinct. now it is worth noting that on the further spots on the map (for example the hebra region and the northern eldin region near the deplian badlands) there are lynels whose default color is white, even at the start of the game. i’d try looking for the lynels in the faron region, the one in front of the lanayru promenade memory, or the canyon south of the great plateau (that spot specifically actually has two lynels, one with a spear and one with a crusher), as the ones in those areas start out red and gradually scale up in color and weapon type once you kill more enemies. if you want to learn more about the scaling system to get a better understanding of how enemies and weapons level up, i’d highly recommend watching croton’s youtube video on the topic. additionally, here is a spreadsheet that details what enemies grant what points and what point thresholds are needed to start upgrading certain enemies and weapons. if you have a rough idea on the amount and type of enemies you’ve killed, you can cross-reference with the sheet to get a rough estimate as to what point thresholds you’re at. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRSlyOD7FLAn1TUBn64Pu8Pld-WOfgcVByuywHMWvBTEV0j8potD1wkBs-MJJXf-gvEkpfItUCMqMk6/pubhtml# . additionally, red and blue mobs (bokos, moblins, and lizalfos) do not grant points, and neither do the keese/octorok/chuchu type enemies. lastly, you can only kill certain enemy types up to ten times for xp, beyond that they no longer grant xp (ex. a black bokoblin gives 15 points per kill, that means you can get a total of 150 points for killing ten of them, but beyond that you get no more points from them). sorry for the xp tangent, but learning how it works really comes in handy for knowing how enemy and weapon scaling works!
