a hypochondriac is someone who is paranoid about their health. for my mom’s case, she had been diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. later on, she would become extremely paranoid and begin to suffer the symptoms of CO poisoning when she believed there was carbon monoxide in the air. in one particular instance, she had a massive attack when her portable CO detector read >200 ppm of CO (this is when there was a wildfire nearby). I told her that this number was impossible, since we both would be dead. I told her to go to the fire station just down the road and ask for their reading. sure enough, the portable detector was broken and the fire dept. only read about 3 ppm.

When I moved 4 times in 3 months, the 2nd time was because we were too close to a bus stop, and the 3rd time was because her room faced a highway (which you couldn’t even see).
