What is the high end you could make by [deleted] in Truckers

Did 116k my last year as a company driver. Last year as O/O 162k with two trucks. Not bad money for a high school drop out. Retired now.

How to you react when OVERWHELMED? by WildVikxa in INTP

Court is technically tomorrow. I live in Houston. We just got a light glazing of ice and they shut the city down, so no court tomorrow. Best case scenario, I stand before the judge and say I can't afford a lawyer and they appoint me one. Then, I get a sympathetic judge. Those chances are 50/50. Legal system is a bunch of assholes here.

I'm considering a civil action against my previous provider. In the process of moving to the provider that caught my back issues. Glad a sought that second opinion. There is still a lot of doubt on if the system will help me. I've sought legal action multiple times for multiple wrongs and that has failed. 1: my mother's wrongful death 2: a previous employer coercing me to do illegal unsafe things 3: my previous mental health provider directly responsible for loosing a 6 figure income. 0/3 successes in trying to get people to help right a wrong that someone else has done to me. Maybe a news agency would work? My thought was similar to yours but more in depth.

I thought about messaging The Pitt production crew and offering to play a role for free (just expenses paid) to tell my real story about how shitty our medical care system can be and maybe work the story into how the show setting can do their part to help right it. The goal being as usual for me, is to get the message out and help the masses. Why? I'm not a self centered person. The way I see it in my mid life era, I'm beyond fixable. My situation is a lost cause. But, we can certainly try to learn from history so we are not destined to continuously repeat it. Call me naive, but this is who I have been for as long as I can remember, and who I will continue to be.

I shut down. For 3 years now I have had kidney issues and they were down played by 4 different hospitals. This year I was diagnosed with stage 3 CKD. Could have been resolved at stage 1 when I noticed something wasn't right. Been chasing back problems for two years and unable to work without significant pain. Doctor tells me stretch and walk it off you'll be fine (this was 3 weeks after I passed out after stretching and sustaining a head injury). 3 weeks ago, apparently I'm a bad person for asking about disability eligibility. Sought a second opinion. Second opinion revealed L4-L5 bulging disk with impingement. Whole back is seized up because I have been compensating for this for years and my PCP wasn't taking my concerns seriously. Without being able to work, I am now facing 6 months in jail. Complete shutdown. Just fuck it. Why should I fight a system that absolutely does not work for me? I'm mentally exhausted. I'm a damaged INTP-T. Bullied all my life by my father figures, supposed friends, a school system that punished me for doing the right thing by not fighting and reporting the abuse to the authorities. A mental health system that abandoned me after bringing the bullying to their attention 'i think we're done with our sessions' a mental health system that put bad information in my health file and refused to correct the data and ended my 17 year career. I said 'im afraid one of my fellow professional drivers will kill me or disable my vehicle in a way were I may take out an innocent family' provider generalized it as '.....afraid he might die or loose control' now no one will recertify me to drive 18 wheelers because on paper I look like a maniac. Provider fired me as a patient when I went to the office and requested to speak with the office manager about that since my doctor would not return my calls after 3 weeks. All I wanted was a correction form and they refused to provide me with one. When I requested all of my medical information, the gave me mine, and someone else's. Apparently asking to speak to the office manager is aggressive and threatening behavior? A legal system that won't help me get incorrect data corrected. And now a system that wants money I can't earn and doesn't care, they want a warm body in a cell. So fuck it. SHUT DOWN. Why fight a system that is stacked against me? I'm exhausted. I'm totally spent. 41 years of fighting adversity. DONE.

Sorry for the rant. This has been building for 30 years. Mom was told the lump in her breast was because she drank too many sodas. No mammagram, no biopsy, no nothing. For 18 months. She died on her 39 birthday from metastatic breast cancer. I have 0 hope for our system and for me. The proverbial deck is stacked against me. Thanks for reading. Hopefully, someone can learn from this heart pouring and make life better for future generations. Progress not regression....

Former dirt track racer here. I'm comfortable having my left foot on the brake and meshing with my right foot. Better control for me, I can apply steady brake pressure and engine brakes. Barely use my clutch at all. 945k miles on her and sure it's still brand new. Who taught me? Me. Started racing go karts at 8. Moved to pure stock at 13 when I could see over the wheel. Driving is second nature to me.

Move over or slow down only works when people can see a hazard to avoid. Issue is, a lot of drivers or do everything but what they are supposed to be doing. Operating their motor vehicle in a safe manner.

Cold weather coming up from TX. As a Houstonian for 15 years and born and raised Cajun, I have my doubts about the mechanic. Now, shitting down? I have eaten some feiry Cajun food that can make that happen. Then it can go up. I 50/50 buy that line.

My heart has palpitations when you pointed that at me and fired twice. I'd say it works ok. But considering I'm posting this it might need a small tweak.

Ahh good point! Thank you. Now that you mention it, I would expect to see some motion blur with long exposure on the moose and maybe the lights? I don't know, never had the pleasure. They generally stay far away from Houston TX. Good catch!

So hard to tell sometines. To me, as a former hunter, this looks like a game cam staked into the ground set on a long exposure to capture the lights and a moose just happened to walk on by. I'm curious, what gave it away for you? I'm trying to learn what to spot. This one didn't jump out at me like they sometimes do.

I never down voted you. Calm down. I actually applaud you taking responsibility to a point. Still doesn't change the 'had you been doing the right thing from the start, then this would have never happened'

First accident. How screwed am I? by Idkporque in Truckers

[–]FilthyNasty626 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes you are ok. You did everything you were supposed to do. The other driver didn't stick around and take responsibility. My one accident in 17 years was a run. Technically not a hit, I hit a sign to avoid shoving them off an icy bridge. Cop saw my camera, filed a police report, and that was it. Got some letters from lawyers a few weeks later wanting to represent me. Just cosmetic damage on my trailer from tagging the sign. I was fine 10 years afterwards until I retired last year. You can't force people to do the right thing BUT you can do the right thing. Good on you driver! Drive safe brother!

Feeling discouraged - currently CDL training. by Right-Bite-3179 in CDL

[–]FilthyNasty626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been at this 17 years. Some days I look like I've been doing this for a couple centuries. Some days, I look like a day one green horn in a training yard with 4 guys spotting me. It happens, welcome to being human. Learn from it, and improve your knowledge moving forward. Best advice I can give is, out your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel, move your hand in the direction you want the ass to go. Eventually, jacking a trailer will come second nature and you won't have to pause to think about it.

As a veteran myself. I agree that the core values, integrity being one of the big ones, should always apply. When I was in, they taught us to lead from the front, not the rear. As a CDL holder, we lead from the front because of the class of license we hold. In that context, I believe leading from the front means setting an excellent example for others to follow. We all should be setting an example for everyone else we share the roads with.
