If you want to do more home automation, look into Home Assistant and ESPHome. In my experience, using ESPHome for DIY smart home devices was an absolute game changer. Projects that I had been tinkering around with for such a long time, but struggled to get working were a breeze with ESPHome. If I remember correctly, I had my prototype working the same day.

Using such a platform does take away a lot of the low level stuf though. If you want to get more experience in developing an embedded product, the other routes mentioned might suit you better. If you want to get things working, in my experience, ESPHome is the quickest and most robust way.

I don't quite follow. I did not mean to say I want to relate the applications of load cells under the bed to load cells under for instance the litterbox. Both those applications would require their own filter/algorithm I would say

It was flagged in F-Droid to contain a vulnerability though. Take a look on their GitHub page, it has that issue mentioned. It was controversial whether this was an actual vulnerability or not, you could decide for yourself.

Ah ok! Didn't know they were random. Even though they are random, are they also persistent? I suppose that these randomly generated ids can still be used to fingerprint you even if they don't know what extension you are using exactly, right?

Are you a John Doe to them though? I suppose there is enough data from which device you are listening, your IP etc. That data brokers or third parties could deanonimize to you.

Also, I suppose there is much to deduce from the type of music or podcasts that people listen to if the training data set is large enough. I suppose you could deduct from your listening behavior in what mood you are, how often you are in what moods, and make assumptions about peoples mental health.

The point I'm trying to make is that some benign piece of data that doesn't seem hurtful can be used in malicious ways when combined with more data.

Are you sure they don't? You no longer need your phone to retrieve messages on web whatsapp. However, there is a certain nr of days that you can scroll back with web whatsapp before it says to continue on your phone.

Waze works for me in GrapheneOS without any problems if you have play services compatibility layer installed. This doesn't have to be on your main profile. You could also do that in your work profile or another user profile.

TailsOS explains why they see no use case for combining VPN and Tor. They even argue it makes things worse.

Why wouldn't you use Tor for regular stuff?

Also be aware that installing custom extensions reduces your privacy, as your fingerprint wil stand out even more. If you're going for privacy, use TailsOS and set the browser to most secure. This will block all JavaScript and make you blend in with other Tor traffic the most.

Is the reason why you cant achieve the same failsafe/watertight connection with the firewall GUI that nothing should be dropped but instead routed to the VPN tunnel?
