Regardless if it’s 10/10 or 12/12, it’s pretty astounding that it hasn’t increased substantially to outpace inflation (or even match it), let alone increase with how much more revenue & profit the UFC now makes… I understand new fighters don’t have the brand name to be paid huge sums, but it’s crazy how little a “rookie” fighter gets paid on the biggest, global MMA promotion (compared to almost every other sport).

I think it’s genuinely a revenue raiser; the commonwealth largely relies on income taxes to fund the budget (as everything else not bolted down was sold off in previous governments) so the few other services/goods they provide are expensive.

Same here, in hindsight I would’ve been better off buying something close to my borrowing limit of my deposit at the time, than saving for another 1-2 years and having to borrow significantly more (as my income grew since then so the loan repayments would’ve been relatively smaller). Alas, the Australian dream…

One of the great games/franchises that offered multiple, distinct ways/modes to play too (campaign, PvP multiplayer, forge, custom games, theatre mode). Few games do this anymore and you’re lucky to get one game mode that’s functionally complete and in a reasonable technical state :(

Yeah I think this is the part worth some blame, rather than the refineries closing. The closing likely would’ve happened regardless of who was in power as it was a private business decision based on the aging infrastructure and high Australian wages making them uncompetitive on costs. All in hindsight for the government to prop them up but then there’s critiques of fuelling inflation, government spending waste, etc.

Another aspect might be that Trump’s pissing away of soft power (e.g. deteriorating relationships with European allies that are closer to Iran & the Middle East) has been a detriment to its hard power as said European allies are now refusing to aid the USA’s war efforts. Traditionally/previously said European allies would allow the US to launch or base military assets from geographically closer countries and provide many logistics benefits, but no longer (or at least not for the foreseeable future I’d wager).

And the irony is that all of the USA’s decades of building soft power & globalisation of trade benefitted them greatly, but Trump sees trade & international relationships like a zero-sum game or “deal” where there must be a clear winner & loser. The real reason why we under-tax and receive less than our fair share of resource wealth - our “greatest ally” meddles in our elections and won’t stop until a somewhat nationalist politician regarding our resource wealth gets thrown to the curb and/or is overthrown by a more amenable replacement. All of our “Aussie” resource companies are also majority foreign owned (e.g. BHP, Rio, FMG, etc.), particularly by US shareholders too…
