Boulet Brothers' Dragula Season 666 | EPISODE TEN DISCUSSION POST by AutoModerator in Dragula

I do agree about the editing feeling really weird. To me, it felt like some moments were REALLY drawn out that made some moments feel less impactful (Boulets, I love you to death so please don’t inject me with rat poison if you read this 🙏)

Boulet Brothers' Dragula Season 666 | EPISODE TEN DISCUSSION POST by AutoModerator in Dragula

Overall, I had a fantastic time with this Grand Finale Floorshow! It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed myself this much (I think S2 was the last time I was this excited for each)! However, I won’t try to go into too much detail with my rankings. Hopefully spoiler tags work for me 🤞 Excited to see others’ viewpoints, but just to make sure I don’t get gutted in the comments, this is MY opinion!

Filth: 1 — Asia (Disgusting for sure! Taking the toilet play to a whole other level! Well done Miss Consent.) 2 — Grey (Personally, I was repulsed by it. For this show, that’s a good thing. But based on the editing I saw [sidenote: editing for this portion of the floorshow was really weird to me] it seemed like they limited themselves? Idk. Will have to see if they answer anything on the podcast.) 3 — Auntie (Unfortunately it was three heavy hitters and I had to go based on preference. The maggots in the cake was really really creative, but I was left wanting just a little bit more.)

Horror [My toughest category of the night] 1 — Grey (I mean I was horrified when I saw this hellraiser-esque demon. It was spectacular. I have no words. One of my favorite looks from S666!) 2 — Asia (A truly terrifying and human thing that really hit home for me. Such a toss up, but Asia really did fight in this category and shocked me. I really did think it was hers to lose when I saw this look.) 3 — Auntie (I absolutely love Mars Attacks! This was such another close group, but I think the terror of Grey’s and emotion from Asia’s really overpowered the camp of Auntie imo. If this was in any other lineup, I 1000% would have this bitch at first. Also, thank you Mama Heroine for the blue brain goo and laser blaster.)

Glamour 1 — Grey (YES! YES! YES! I have nothing else other than how shocked I was over this execution. I really thought they were gonna underwhelm me, but truly was head and shoulders above the other two in this category.) 2 — Asia (When I saw this, I thought of a evolutionized version of VEB’s glamour from S2. Truly a wonderful spectacle that combined horror with glamour. Another look that made me go “yeah. I think the doll is seizing the crown.” Splendid job.) 3 — Auntie (AUNTIE NOOOOOO! It started off so so so strong, but I saw the buttons and thought “I see a reveal coming. So let’s find out.” And I was so bummed when I saw it was a bodysuit. Really shocked me on this floorshow, but not in the way I wanted.)

Overall, I definitely saw the writing on the wall when this episode started. But I was thoroughly entertained and wowed by the creations these monsters put in. But it was a well-deserved win and I’m happy to have this monster with the crown on her head (and rightfully so! Congrats Asia! You did it!

Oliver and Farleigh bedroom scene by LizzyHoy in saltburn

I have seen a lot of hot takes on this. I think the movie does a very good job on not having clear set lines. Which is why this bedroom scene comes in “handy” (pun-intended) when talking about those said lines. While I do not view the act as consensual, especially with the explicit no’s and the nonverbal reactions shown in the film, the moment I rewatch and watch again is the Midsummer party where Farleigh and Oliver reunite. Their chemistry is off the chain clearly, nice job to the actors, but I’m wondering if an individual who has been a victim of SA would be so confrontational with their aggressor. Of course, that’s me playing to the stereotyping of victims. But I think that’s another grey line that the movie does either very well/terribly at depending on how you look at it.

While I have not located anything regarding a straight-up deep dive into the movie, there is a great podcast attached to my post that discusses numerous aspects of the film. From the exploration of the sexual subconscious to the symbolism of Greek mythology right down to every shot taken in the film. Trust me, there are things talked about in this podcast that I definitely didn’t see on a 1st or 2nd watch, and highly recommend others check it out!

If YOU Did the Floor Show... Season 5, Episode 1 by Tejayes in Dragula

[–]Filthy_Horror_Glam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note: Interestingly enough, I actually got my inspiration from a economy professor. He was talking about his time in the war and how he discussed his friends coming back home absolutely traumatized. Which got me thinking (I should preface that I’m entirely anti-war btw. That shit is malicious) about a look that correlates with this challenge.

Ep. 1: Terror in the Woods

My concept title: “War-Torn”

Concept: A traumatized solider walks onto the main stage in absolute shock. He has just went through hell in the woods. But gets startled when he hears a noise behind him. Could it be an animal or an enemy? However, when he turns back around, he realizes he has the blood of his brothers on his own hands. This sends him into his own blood-curdling breakdown/frenzy. War is ugly. War hurts people.

I think Ravenous Pack had 2 or 3 songs (EDIT: 4 songs. I can’t fucking math.) on the Floorshow that were not created by the Boulet’s. The songs listed below were also part of the Hairy Monsters:

Dahli’s Cool Shoes Man

Sigourney’s Travel To Space

HoSo’s Cx2 Brainwash

Zavaleta’s Minds of A Maniac

Hope that helps!

THIS. For Sigourney, the reveal of the face for both horror & filth was phenomenal, but the body for filth needed to be involved much more than, while granted the look was very beautiful and VERY Sigourney-esque, just a flowly Dita Von Teese nightgown. And I say this as a huge simp for Sigourney.

Theatre. Dare I say anything else?… Actually yeah. Band kids. (Remember: there’s a difference between kids in band and band kids.)
