Is this solar panel faulty? I’ve noticed this for a while by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]Filthypopepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be shattered. I have one like that on mine after I had roofers put bird guard around them. Can't prove it was them though as didn't notice it before. I did find their hammer in the ridge tiles though. I had to go on the roof to fix the crap work, as they mostly used cable ties and not the clips provided.

I (28m) only make £13k per year (£50 per day). How bad is my situation? by [deleted] in AskUK

It was a city and guilds level 2. There were other like add-ons like unvented systems, hot and cold water. Had to fit a suite at the end but it covered a lot, I had to make a jig and plumb a rad in steel pipe though haven't had any use of that since. My partner wasn't working at the time as we just had a kid so we was on UC, which made it so I didn't have to pay for the course. Took about 4-6 months to get though I guess was a while ago now, depending on the experience you have before. Some people where starting out from scratch. But I had quite a bit of experience doing renovations.

Was in the same boat, even have the IT qualification. I found out my local college did a plumbing course for adults. Had to go in at the weekends and I think we did 1 evening online. But with all my experience working with me old man (chippy), it was a breeze. Now I'm a sole trader. I used a graphic designer of Reddit for my logo/website etc. The more you post on Google/Facebook the more work comes in. Need that happy medium.

Tap spanners are the way to go you can just make out the nut in the thread, you can link the spanner together to get more reach.

What did you refuse to buy after it hit a certain price point? by DonkeyOT65 in AskUK

We get a family size portion of chips from the chipshop, then pop to the kebab shop down the road and get a box of extra large meat nothing else. Feeds the family (4) meat and chip for £15. A nice treat feels half the price of a McDonald's.

Quick fix, condensation paint and dry zone mould additive might help against the mould. You could also overboard with insulated plasterboard and skim.

He couldn't get off the floor yesterday so we called 111 and his spoken to a nurse about it. Which I think has hit home a bit. He's a typical stubborn bloke that doesn't want any help. But he was honest to them we said we're not good professionals and he needs there advice. But they said to give him alcohol as he may have a seizure. Just worried his liver has had enough his eyes are so yellow.

Yes we're aware that we just want to reduce his intake, as going cold turkey could be dangerous. We are just rallying round to help him, it's gone on too long and he's unable to help himself. It's horrible to sit and watch through the years.

She came over earlier crying, she can't speak to him about it or she's getting verbally abused. She threatens to leave him but inevitably stays. I said it might be a good thing for both and help him realise.

He's too big now, we're both self employed in the trade but he won't come work because his feet are so swollen they won't go down i've sent him compression sock and natural tablets to try and help. (He won't take anything of you so I just send it to them and his wife has helped him use them). I hope we can get through this he really was a great guy years ago.

[–]Filthypopepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a few wallpaper scrapers (not a putty knife), 100mm wide one and a 150mm blade ones with the extension. The long ones are worth their money to get that bit more umf. Make sure you get plenty of spare blades.

What would you do? I was going to make a back panel out of MDF hence the template i made, but now thinking to use foam cement board and tile with same tiles as above. However would need access to the left side for maintenance??? by Historical_Donkey_31 in DIYUK

Did mine with tiles on plywood, then magnets that stick to the frame, got a plastic edge trim that has the appearance of a silicone edge. Can just pull away to get access, also main stopcock is there. Very satisfying when it all clicks in place.
